Total Experience

I've solo-ed BG so many times that by the time I get to BG2 I usually want to restart with some different character. As a result I haven't been getting to BG2 much at all during my past dozen games or so.

The level cap in BG1 doesn't stop you from gaining experience to be used in BG2. Considering you'd be completing BG + TOSC solo, doing anywhere between ninety and one hundred percent of all the side quests and clearing out maps likewise, how much experience would a character end up with once having imported the final-save into BG2?

Rough estimates are fine. I once ended up with a near level 10 character, but then I only raced through the game.

Just played through TOSC with a full party, had a couple of mods running, Grey Clan and Stone of Askovar, everyone ended up with 250,000 XP , without XP farming apart from taking out about 6-8 extra golems in the treasure cave.

I was playing on hardest setting, which spawns an awful lot more monsters mind.

So.. would it be fair to say that a single player would have gained 6 times that amount?

I've usually stopped playing BG1 when my solo character gets past 8th level, and just go for the main quest, so I'm not sure.

Logically if you do everything, and play on 'hardest' setting with the mods I mentioned you should get a million or more for sure. Not really sure if there would be that much point really, I was surprised at how much XP I got, was thinking of stopping a few times, if you did manage to start SoA with 1.5m XP the game would be far too easy. Like you I usually can't force myself through TOB when playing solo, racking up max XP in BG1 would make it even worse.

Well, the game does adjust to your level a bit.

I nearly always finish BG1 with a single character, it's easy enough with any class. However, I never bothered to check on my level or XP by the time I got started with BG2. And now I want to be lazy and get my sorcerer up to the appropriate level quickly. :p

The idea of replaying BG1 so soon already is just making me a bit queezy.

(Edit: Actually, you proved correct. Level 14 at the beginning was too lame, I quit playing already. Maybe it's time again to put Baldur's Gate into the freezer for a little while.)

I'd bet you could get between 1.5 and 2 million experiance soloing TOTSC with the experiance cap removed, clearing every area and doing all the quests. Of course it would be no fun since you'd be way overpowered even early on. I've never even removed the cap in TOTSC. If your playing a small party in TOB you'll hit the cap and then its nice to remove it mainly to keep piling up HLA's. I think soloing in general is too easy, its fun early on and teaches you how to maximize the class or build your using but after that its too easy for my tastes.

I agree wholeheartedly.
