i have a full install. unfortunately, one or two areas do not seem to have been installed. i can't copy them from the disk and the disk does not seem to read them when i need them.

what do i do?

Re-install the game, or patch it. If you re-install, don't use the uninstaller that the game provides, it tends not to work. What version of windows are you using?

Sounds like the disc is losing the imprint of the contents. Try this: copy the disc in question at a very slow speed. The slower you go, the more likely you are to actually get the code that's fading, assuming it's even possible. Then try doing it install with that.

Note, I've done this successfully with audio discs, but never with game ones. So I can't say that it will work. But it's worth a try.

Depends on the copying software you're using, so I can't tell you that. Most, though, should offer you a choice of speeds when copying a full disc-to-disc. Some get as high as 45x or higher. I would suggest something along the lines of 5x, or even less, because you want the copy to be made very, very carefully.
