Wizard character build

I have a few questions about the skill/feat system of NWN2 and how to make the perfect spellcaster.
1. I invested a few points in diplomacy (including the feat skill focus:diplomacy). Is it worth it for a wizard? And I think I read somewhere that I can use the diplomacy/taunt etc. skills of my companions in conversation, is that possible?
2. Do you think I should make a multiclass hero or it's better to stick with the wizard class?

I'm not sure if lower levels of diplomacy are still effective later in the game. I haven't tried that. However, the Arcane Scholar of Candlekeep prestige class gets diplomacy as a class skill. Combined with your Wizard's high Intelligence, it should be easy to maintain. Red Wizards likewise get the dialogue skills Bluff and Intimidate as class skills.

I don't know anything about companion skills being effective in dialog. I don't think it does anything in the OC, but perhaps some of the expansions.

companions' skills wont help in any way.
they're only useful for crafting items and enchanting them.
you do the talks, all the way thru.

if you want a character that talks, make one talking class/build, and he'll be worthless for all the rest, but will get plenty of fancyness from dialogue. better make one that can defend him/herself, or stay out of trouble (=battle) as much as possible.

otherwise make one that only masters one of the talking skills, and pump it past 20, or in other words pump it at every lvl up. and forget about the remaining two.

otherwise, neglect talking.

anything inbetween 2 of the above options will resemble the worst one, as far as talking goes.

Oh, one more question if you please: If I am let's say lvl 10 wizard lvl 10 arcane scholar will I get the benefits of being an epic hero or do I need to stick with the wizard class to be an epic hero?

past 20 (= from 21 on) you start getting epic feats, regardless of the calsses involved.

That's correct. Your character level determines if you can get epic feats, not your class level. It's for the best really. :)

Here is the build I would suggest:

Ascendant | NWN2 Character Builder

Reading through it should give you a good idea for the reasons behind the build, and particulars to what a good Wizard build should have (and again, why).

I think I'll make a lvl 10 Arcane scholar lvl 20 wizard. Btw I hoped someone could answer me a couple of questions: 1. How can I change my familiar? Or is it always a cat. 2. Which do you think is better for a magic school- Evocation or Necromancy? I mean the other schools are nice too but I like a spellcaster who could kill a lot of monsters with a few spells, rather than a spellcaster who has to buff up before a battle.

Oh, I figured it out. I guess I missed out the Customize button during character creation
