Any active modding forums?

Post by AGustofWind »

So, as before I'm looking to make a mod for Bloodlines. But, my ambitions have shrunk since the last time I posted about this. Still, though, my problem is finding anyone who wants to mod for this game. Are there any decent modding forums dedicated to Bloodlines, that are still active?

For those that are curious, I am writing a series of five quests that you can receive from Mr. Ox, in Chinatown. The characters involved will comment on your clan (or your clan's unique traits, more specifically). where appropriate.

ForumPlanet has a pretty active one. Can't tell you anything about quality, but it still gets a fair number of posts.

The most active modding forum is the modding area at planetvampire. Game Banshee forums are nice, but most of the activity has to do with non-modding related posts.

VTMB is 5 years old, so its user base is smaller than other communities like Fallout3. That said, there are only like 5 or 6 mods for VTMB, so you aren't competing with a lot of people.

To give you an idea, My mod (CompMod) was released in Feb/March and it has about 12,000 downloads to date. The most popular NWN mods only had about 80,000 downloads and that accumulated over the coarse of years.

Bear in mind that the modders that hang out at PlanetVampire have been doing this for years and are not so tolerant of total newbies. At the very least you should make sure and read the VTMB Mod Developers guide top to bottom before you post questions on the forums. It only takes about an hour.

As for your mod idea, there is a clan-quest mod out there, but it adds 1 big additional quest for each of the 7 clans... which means on any given run through, you only "see" one additional quest (Though it is generally rather involved). Personally, I think he should make it so that all 7 quests become available to all clans.... and where the quests conflict with each other, let the PC decide how they want to proceed. Anyway... it is similar to what you want to do. But it sounds like your changes would be more evident.
