What are some good starting character choices?

Post by mystic2010 »

What are some good starting character choices? I don't know the ruleset or anything like that, so I want to pick something where I am not really screwed or clash with characters that arrive early (like have 2 thieves or something like that). Thanks!

Hmmm that's a tough one. I have started the game 4 times, and finished 2 so far. My first was with a Pirate and Rhulana, Ancoron and Gwendala. Then a Ranger with Rhulana Traldar and Gwendala. Currently I am playing two games, both of them Im playing the Tallon area. One with an Archer with Rhulana Traldar and Gwendala and the other with a Battlemage and Traldar Forgrimm and Gwendala. I can't tell which has been more fun or more difficult/easy to play. What I can tell you is that it has been ages since I played a game this much. My advice is to experiment and don't be afraid to restart the game again. There are many different combos you can form, and there is nothing wrong with having 2 alike characters. In my game with the archer, I made Gwendala proficient with the bow, even she is a spellweaver. Two simultanews bow shots from them usually brings down an enemy. If you kill a monster with one shot, you don't aggro the rest even if they are in the same group. There have been instances in which they both kill an entire group of enemies from a distance, without even the rest of my party getting into combat.:mischief:

You may chooese any type

In eary games you will have a versatile fighter who can use 1H weapon and use bow. Then pick lock&pocket master who lacks Con(means easy to posined and wounded)
And next, Pure Fighter with Good CON&STR and handy streetwiser who can handle some magic also do pick-pokets are coming.

So if you go for thief skill, you may feel "we have too much pick-pockets."
But still i can say you may chooose any type.

"Kill with one Shot" is nice concept that i didn't experienced yet.

Also take this into account: 2 master marksman shots=4 wounds. Plus Traldar's 2H sword with 50% chance of wounds= instant kill ;) (MM takes almost all your Endurance, so its mostly a one per fight event, unless you are loaded with END potions. But well, otherwise, it would make the game too easy :P )
