I've been on this forum for a few years now and I can't recall ever seeing a discussion about the music everyone is listening to. By posting this thread I am aiming to change that.
This is just a thread where you can tell all about the music you're listening too at the moment; be it a band or just a single song in particular.
I'll start off with Elbow. I'm sure how big they are outside of the UK as they've only just really took off here. They're probably one of the most beautiful modern bands that I've heard. Particularly in their latest album: The Seldom Seen Kid. I'm also listening to Leaders of the Free World from their last album quite a bit too. It's brilliantly dramatic.
What's everyone else listening to then?

I'm a boy of the 80's...
My kind of music is New Wave music of the 80's.
I just finished listening to U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name."

I happen to enjoy classical music lots. Currently learning a little bit of Italian by listening to Mr. Andrea Bocelli.

I like quite a bit from around then as well. David Bowie did some particularly brilliant work then.
Duran Duran are also really good. I like the post punk too. I recently started listening to a bit of Joy Division.

I've been listening to the back catalogue of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (albums in no particular order) when commuting to work. Murder Ballads was probably not the best choice yesterday... but O'Malley's Bar on the way home sure brought a smile to my face! Onto No More Shall We Part Today... so plenty to look forward to...

Well, I listen to different types of music. I enjoy Bullet for my Valentine, but I like Craig David as well, it is odd, but I always thought it is odd to listen and enjoy only one type of music. Classical music is wonderful, relaxing and intense, you can let go of your imagination while listening to some, but to my shame I did not have much contact to classical music in my childhood. Over 40 years of communism left their mark on my country, but I am thankful that I was born one year after this regime fell.

Ah... Leonard Cohen, anyone? Almost 75, currently on Tour around a large part of the world, and still sounding as good as he did in his 40s. I went to one of the concerts last September, the venue was packed, and very many of the audience were young people. Check out the link in my sig...
Currently listening to Love Itself.

Mmmm... That man could sing me bedtime lullabies *any* time
Honestly.... He has the kind of voice that makes me go weak at the knees...
And, I'm not normally one to even be affected by singers and the like! :speech:

Metal and rock... Won't start with the genre crap, though.

I listen to Leonard Cohen so that I can impress girls, which I feel is a reason he would be pleased by. I need to get Flowers for Hitler on my bookshelf, posthaste.

Mark Knopfler, both his solo and and his work with Dire Straits. I am perfectly comfortable listening to classical music. For more modern faster music Dreamtheater. Leanard Cohen is pretty darn good too.

Right now Winamp is playing the whole production of Ensiferum. Nice band which combine some heavy metal, death metal and folk music.

Nah, not so much. The band is actually "Hero Metal" band, which just combines all the above elements.
Actually below are couple of their tracks from youtube, gives better picture of their music. And btw, many of their tracks contains very long instrumental intro (longest one IIRC is 3,5 minutes long), so don't wonder.

If you're not the type to shy away from a little Christianity themed music, you should hear some Timber Timbre. The man has a haunting voice, I'm really liking it.
Otherwise.. well I've been listening to Beirut, Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene) and The Most Serene Republic today as well.

Heh! NOW I know why I like you! It's a decidedly 'come to bed' voice, isn't it? I'm 72 and way past it, but he affects me the same way!

Well, I guess he would be pleased, at that.
That's why, by his own admission, he went into the poetry and music game after all - to attract girls!
He'd be even more pleased if you BUY his CDs and books (so he can get the royalties), and don't just download 'em!

You'd be surprised at how charming many of his songs sound on a ukulele.
edit: which I picked up for much the same reason I listen to Cohen.

I actually bought the Live in London DVD on a whim a few days ago, after seeing your signature.
