I am looking for a new game - not everquest. Loved BG and TOB - Icewind Dale was ok. Any suggestions for other RPGs?
How is the new D&D game, POR?

Have you played Planescape: Torment? It's great game with interesting story, less hack and slash than IWD (if you choose), and is sold a lot cheaper now.

POR is IMO a horrible game, a bug feast. Bad graphics and poor gameplay. But that's me, there are quite a few people who love it.Get your latest patch here
Arcanum is a pretty good game, graphics aren't that bad, a lot of roleplaying and too much options when developing your char, huge world, nice writing, what's not too like.Oficcial site

You think she hasn't played the best true RPG ever yet. How foolish of you.

IIRC you asked about the same question not that long ago.

May I just suggest if you decide to try PoR you download patch 1.1 and run it before you run the installation.
I received this game for Christmas. Not being aware of the buggy installation I tried to load it up, only for it to crash half way through to a black screen.
I had to cold boot my system to restart. When I tried to install again, the program recognised that there was already an unfinished installation and offered me the chance to remove it. By clicking on the uninstall button, not only did it wipe windows from my system, it also corrupted my hard drive.
So far the game looks quite interesting, but not on the depths of BG or PST...I am yet to discover why a standard installation requires over 1gig of drive space....

I'd sue the bastards who made the thing for damage to property.
As for an RPG... There aren't many about (new). But Gothic is very good... if not very consistent in terms of length.

Thanks for the input. I haven't played Planetscape or Arcanum yet - so I'll look into those. I don't like what I have been hearing about POR, so I'll pass for now. I'm also looking forward to Neverwinter nights - but September?

Yep we can wait, have you thought about joining the Blades of the Banshee?

If you can wait for a bit, then I would invest my money in Morrowwind. This baby is going to be one of the main contenders of RPG of the year for this year. The graphics look really sweet.
Planescape and Arcanum are each excellent games. NWN also looks to be promising, but with the litigation going on between Interplay and Bioware, it future does look bleak.
I am not sure on when Morrowwind would be released, but I think that it should be in the 1st quarter.

Shame on you, for not having played planescape. It's a very good game, great story. I still find myself comparing other games too it, and I still haven't found one that has measured up story wise. I was quite angry *now there is an understatement* when I realised there wasn't a final save.
