I just got the game and I was curious if it was really possible to solo this game?

I played for a tiny bit and got to the town but I enlisted the woman in the dungeon cause I thought maybe it was more important then it ended up being.

I am just asking cause I enjoy games more solo playing plus you get past ALOT of things that tend to happen when you get a party together.

I have noticed that if you get pretty weak you can just retreat a little bit and as long as you get a little distance only 1 or 2 will follow you. That has saved me two times on my way to the town as my tank dropped but I just had the girl run back a little and she took them on 1 at a time.

I also noticed alot of REZ items in the spellshop but this game seems VERY EZ to just run away, regroup, and come back. Later on in the game do you get flanked alot?

Ok, I haven't read your post, only the Topic. Yes, this game can be soloed. The monster's health get raised/lowered according the the number of character you have, so you won't have too much trouble with soloing.

If want, you can even recruit a full party and leave them in town for all the game.

The more character you have = more health on monsters = more xp.

Its definately possible to solo. A popular way i've heard about was folks going pure melee till they get really high str(40s i think) then work on a magic school (have'n high hp and defense makes level'n spell levels on high hp monsters easy).
I'm do'n a nature mage (with a little in combat so i can use mana chant, its a must). So far he's level 30ish and i'm almost completely dependent on my pet to keep alive. Its pretty fun tho the first thing you need to learn is when to run, and you'll run... alot. Getting flanked and ambushed is a way of life and the higher you get, the more it'll happen. Pets take alot of mana but have the same casting time as everything else, don't be afraid to let your pet die over and over again to break up a big creature group. The enemies will even get smart enough to run away when they're low on life, which sucks cause not only will they run to other monsters, some regen also .

Yea, right now I'm in the mine area solo and I LUV it.
I'm melee and nature, with a tad bit bow skill just in case.

melee 11 (+2 I think for items)
Range 5 (+1 I think item)
Nature 8 (no +'s from items)

OMG, I must say it's SOOOOOOOOO much better playing solo.
You don't have to worry about stupid AI problems like monsters running and u're characters doing nothing or members getting stuck. As for mules, I could use one to an extent but I hear they are SLOW and will easily die if you need to run.

Question though, if you let u're pet kill for you and you don't kill much don't you missout on the skill training?
I have a killer gerbal myself but he's used just mainly for extra damage. That and alot of times if I need to run which hasn't been but 2 times so far he tends to keep them off me long enough so that I have no problems.

I didn't get into combat magic at all though cause really nature has enough magic to pull with and then finish off melee. Plus you gotta LUV the armor shield and the +5 melee bonus spell.

Plus they stack so you can be like me and before going into a dungeon get like 5K timing on each of them and u're pretty much set for most if not all of that dungeon

To end my LONG post off I have to say what they lack in storyline they makeup with the EXTREME coolness factor of everything else.

I just got the spider dungeon done and I must say the way everything flowing was VERY realistic. Spiders crawling through the edge of the room storm drains, down the walls, and popping the floor grailing like right before you walked over it were EXCELLENT.

For me, forget extreme storyline that I gotta read and follow forever, (sometimes retracing my steps for hours) keep me on the back of my seat never knowing what is going to happen next yet CRAVING for it to happen

To me this game is like movies with CRAP for a plot but GREAT effects with the never-ending fear factor thown in. Anyways, back to the game, just took a few screenshots for my friend showing some of the cool things that happen (I took 2 SS's of me shooting a TNT crate just as 3 Kurgs were coming after me. The crate blew up but so do they. The implosion action was GREAT )

Pet dmg counts toward that magic school's skill increase. Its the main way group nature mages level, and the reason why they get such good melee oriented pets. I've went through many skill levels with my solo nature mage by just chain healing my pet while it killed. I could also just do it the lazy way by casting a pet near aggro range of a group of monsters when i'm too far away for them to react, and just regen mana as he kills. If he dies, no prob cause i'm most likely near full mana again and too far away for them to follow me, and recast the thing.

Since it's obvious u're farther than me what did you get with the lil one room in the ice cave past where the mage is frozen in the ice? You know the little one room dungeon by the dragon but on the opposite side with the pressure point tiles. I killed those knight monsters real fast cause I had no clue that there were 2 pressure plates in there that when both stepped on at the same time reveals a staircase in the middle of the room going down. I got my pet to stay on one plate and I stood on the other one to reveal the stairway but when I tried to run very fast down the stairs it was recovered by floor before I could make it down.

Have you seen what I'm talking about and if so what did you do to get down the stairs? I thought of hold person on the 2 monsters on the tiles but I killed them before I noticed the plates and I don't remember seeing them have any effects of the plates anyways.

WOOHOO, nm, I dropped 2 pieces of armor I had on the tiles and they stayed down

Goblin Lair?

I'm not sure it's possible to operate the rotating bridge-thing in the Goblin Lair w/out at least two humanoids ...
