Why am I always off by 1?

In the sixth sence perhaps the kid could have clued in B.Willis, pretty crewl to let him flounder like that?

Is there a rule book for charades? or perhaps a strategy guide?

Yeah yeah I know nothing rhymes with orange, but cant we come up with a word that does to end this enigma once and for all?

What is the most common paradox?

I don't know if there such a one - my fav. though is : Can God create a stone so big, he can't lift it

I really doubt it, IIRC it was the part of a death sentence, and again IIRC he drank the poison to spare family? (damn, it has been many years since I've had acient greek history

Music and mathematics are closly tied together - so nothing odd about that really

That question is actually not stupid just because you (or anybody else but a "eventually" God) can answer it, but a quite intriugen(sp?) question

And BTW it is not mine, but Sthepen Hawkins that have stated it

Obviously you have not heard the sermon illistration I have heard. I do not remember the details, but here is the basic idea.

A guy writes a column for a newspaper. People send him questions and he answers(or attempts to answer) them in his column. He once got a letter from someone asking the question, "Can God create a boulder so big he can't lift it?" In his column, to answer that question, he wrote "I don't know, but I do know it's possible for you to come up with a question so stupid I can't answer it."

BTW, there is a real answer to the question. The answer is yes, God can create a boulder so big he can't lift it. However, he is also able to lift the boulder. There is no "How?" He is omnipotent.

There is also no "try," nor is there a spoon. Do you hear me? THERE IS NO SPOON!!!!

There are only Sporks.

No - I did not know the story about the columnwriter, but I still think it is a nice question/paradox, and because I seriously doubt religion, I'd answer with "the real answer":
"No, God can not create a stone, because he does not exits"

And BTW - there is a spoon

Ah, but there are two flaws with that answer. The question does not ask about God's existence, merely what his abilities are/would be. Also, the question is hypothetical, thus you go on the assumption that God does exist when ye answer it.

And BTW - there is a spoon

I'M TELLING YOU THERE IS NO SPOON!!!!

Well then - lets go back to your answer then - "God" is omnipotent, so you state that he can do both.
But if he can create the stone he can't lift - then he is not omnipotent, because he can't lift it..... if he could lift it - then he is not either, because he couldn't create a stone so big

But then again - it was not to be a theological discussion wich I don't bother (there have been plenty in SYM) since I not interested in religion.

And btw the spoon beside me says that it is there.
If you can't see the spoon, how do you know it isen't there.

But that is where the omnipotence comes in. Because he is omnipotent, he is capable of doing both, even at the same time. Omnipotence transcends paradoxes.

I see this more as spam than theological discussion, since we're discussing the answer for a pointless question about a pointless paradox.
