I thought that I had cleared out all of the the Glitterdelve mines, but I still can't get through to Glencarn. I have killed all the Scorpions, Mine Worms etc, and explored the area with the lifts and swings.

Also, any usable maps would be greatly appreciated. The megamap included in the game is less than worthless...Thanks.

I'd need to know more exactly where you are in order to help you out, but generally speaking:

After the swings and lift area, you should find a large room with quarters, and a track leading north. Finally, you should find a crane that carries you to the last area of the mines.
