Damn Donkeys

Okay, everyone has heard the term 'smart a$$' right, but how could it have started? The donkeys in DS are the stupidest bunch of a$$es i've ever seen. All in all, my question, is there some sort of patch or mod out there that makes the dinkeys in one player smarter? As in the lines of being able to tell them to stay in one spot no matter what, or so they run in the opposite direction of more enemies. So far, my donkeys have walked into more trouble than my characters.

I did not have this problem, my mule only ran into trouble at a couple of occations. To my knowledge, there is no patch to improve their AI, the only advice I can give is not using follow-the-leader mode for mule.

Donkey Problem Solution
This solution will solve all of your donkey problems.
Highlight just your donkeys and then hit the enter key, when the window comes up type in this text string "+Zool".
Now there will not be any donkey injuries.

But if you don't want to cheat. There is another solution for single player mode.
Leave your donkey's in safe zones. That is towns or areas you have already cleared out.
Since in single player, monsters do not respawn this is a very viable option. The only draw back is the back tracking to retrieve them. But, since I tend to catch side passages and the like that I previously missed while back tracking it's a double benefit for me. Of course the follow the leader mode will have to be turned off. But you know about that now anyway.
Happy Hunting.

I never had that much problem with my mules doing that..I was soloing the whole game (melee style) and I had the rest of the group as mules (since I like to pick up EVERYTHING I find), and the only problem I had was the stupid things getting stuck behind some stuff and not following the group..but as far as the mules dying by monsters..it never really happened because for some reason they tended to kick the crap out of monsters easily..some even did some 2v1's where the 2 were monsters!

I've never had mules die but what started me using safe zones was them running in the wrong direction and there by bringing a swarm of enemies at once were as I like to use the lure and kill method. After one particularly nasty episode early in the game with Klaws, wolfs, and ice mages I've used safe zones ever since.
By the way, Sucineri, how did you make it past the goblin inventor solo?

To tell you the truth..just a short while into the game I started zoning and going into autopilot..so I don't know where you are talking about exactly, lol..but I basically just went hand-hand against everything I saw..it wasn't that hard at all..I accidently got 1 level in ranged because when I was really far I picked up a bow to put on a mule to sell and it went into the slot and made me start using it..and in one shot I gained a ranged level and got pissed off and never picked up another bow to sell ever again..and it didn't really matter because even without bows I was the richest thing in existance! lol

You probably haven't gotten there yet. But when you do, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Actually, I went through the entire game..and I know I did because afterwords I went through a walkthrough and saw that I did go through everything..I did beat the game, I already said that..was like level 62 or something in melee. Wait..the inventor..I think I remember that one now..didn't he disappear and then a HUGE robot come out that shoots like 4 different weapons at a time or something? Well, that was like the hardest fight in the game to me, hehehe..I ran out of potions for myself, so I ended up using the doorway just before that room to kill him, I would hide around the corner til I was all healed, walked out, smacked him for a bit of damage and then ran back through the door and around the corner til I could heal all the way again..took about an hour to beat him like that since my guy didn't heal all that fast, hehehe.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
I didn't catch that you had finished the game.
Thanks
