on battle.net I picked up a character's ear. would anyone know what it is? it is phrased like this:

The ears is what is left when you kill another character. Many people on Bnet duel each other in open games, and when they get killed, an ear will be left on the ground 
Some people also kill other people just to be mean, that is called PK:ing (player killing). When somebody go hostile on you, a skull will appear in the upper right corner of the screen, and you will hear a sound. You hostile other players by clicking the icon on the Party screen when you are in town. You don't have to agree to the hostiling, the other player can go hostile at you whenever he wants, and kill you.
I personally don't approve of PK:ing, but people who duel each other for fun when they have agreed on dueling, is another thing and often done organised, in teams or by single players.
