What happens to attributes when you level up?

Probably a stupid question, but I could not find the answer anywhere. In WOW, all class/race combinations have a fixed value of the main attributes (strength, stamina, agility, etc., see
http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Stats.View for example). Do these values ever change? Are there points you can add to attributes when you level up or do you have to live with the same values until the highest level?

Well your stats slowing raise as you level, but you can't change the percentages at which they raise. Your stuck with a lot of spirit throughout the whole game if you started with it. However they are many items, weapons, and armor you can equip that add to your stats. As well as many spells from the spell casting classes that temporarily raise stats (i.e. a priest can raise your stamina a certain number of points that might give a certain character 26% more HP for 30 minutes) and potions do the same thing.

Thank you for explaining this. So this means some attention should be given to the class/race combination, because there are classes that heavily rely on one or two attributes. Take a Tauren hunter for example. Hunters primarily rely on agility and tend to avoid melee combat. So that means a Tauren, with high strength and low agility, is at a disadvantage there. It also means that there is an optimal race for each class, I think...

Well if you look at the
races you'll see that they also have
racial traits that could help you decide between two races that are good for a class.
