In WoW, how do you become better?
Do you get experience and you just levelup? Or do you need to train your skills.

And if you gain experience, whatfor do you get it? Only for combat or also by sneaking past enemy's etc.

Well i think you need to see a trainer to "level up".
Just correct me if im wrong.

""Leveling up" happens when you reach your achieved exp. Training is only needed to learn new skills / spells. For instance at level 21 I gained stats increase (from basic level up) but I could not get any new spells so I did not need to see a trainer.

There are lots of stuff to do.. recently i realized that I had to go to a weapons trainer so my priest could learn to use a staff.

I could go into detail about more stuf but its early and i am at work.

"Mob" killing and quests I'd wager which is pretty much standard for most MMORPGs these days.

From the FAQ:

Are there ways to gain experience in the game besides fighting?
Yes, there will be ways to gain experience other than by fighting. Exploring is just one example of how you can gain experience; a character can receive experience by simply finding a new area (for your character) within the game.

Ok, I'll try my hand at this question. Level-ups are important as they increase stats as previously mentioned. Every 2nd level you can learn new skills as was also mentioned previously.

What hasn't been mentioned yet is the importance of equipment. There are a lot of options for equipment and a well-equipped level 25 player could be stronger than a poorly-equipped level 30 player. This is one of the areas where WoW stands out. Unlike Lineage 2, the other mmorpg that I've played, there is no set progression in equipment. You can choose to use different combinations of equipment based on your playing style. A tank warrior could use equipment with heavy stamina (hp) bonuses while a damage warrior could use equipment with heavy strength (damage) bonuses.

Another area where WoW is strong is in the way experience is gained. It is done mainly through mob killing and quest completions, but unlike in Lineage 2,, you are not constantly counting how much more experience you need to level up, which inevitibly makes it seem longer. You are occupied with things other than how much experience you need so the grind is not anywhere near as bad as in Lineage 2.

I guess the answer you're looking for is that you do both.

For the spells, unlike Diablo 2 (for example), there are many, many more that you can train. It usually costs money, but sometimes you're required to complete a quest to get it. For the skills it is like Diablo 2where there is a skill "tree" that shows what is required to get to the next skill that is more powerful. And equipment is very important. Unlike what I've heard about EQ2 where everyone has the exact same armor and weapon, etc which is the best for that level, WOW has many, many styles to play, so almost everyone has a different look.
