I used a barb, but because I was new to the game I spent most of my skill points on the first few skills, so as i got into the game i was F**ked when I got to hell level, but my next barb I put my points into Whirlwind, Beserk and find item, with these skills nothing was too tough.

I tried to finish the game with a paladin, but when I got half way through Hell it was really hard as a lot of monsters are immune to Physical and cold etc, when I used convition it olny took away their immunity to cold/fire and not physical damage, is there a skill that beats the physical immunity?

The combat skill "Vengeance" - fire, lightning and cold damage are added to each successful attack. This combined with the aura conviction make a great combo for physical immune monsters. It is a fairly popular way to fight for paladins, the type of paladin specializing in this fighting style is sometimes referred to as an avenger.

Holy fire/freeze/shock auras add fire/cold/lightning dmg.

Part of the damage inflicted by blessed hammers is magic dmg.
