now im tired of all the "whats a good build for my character..?" can't we make a "build thread" where people can post builds? you can post common builds or your own. then the moderator could make it a sticky thread..

Very good idea, Grimar, I have actually thought of this a long time, I just haven't had the time to make one. My suggestions is that people start posting build threads, and in the end I would make a sticky containing these builds.

So start posting!

Would you mind if I just post stats and equip (i.e. no pvp or levelling strategies)? And do you mind if I post NL dupes in my items?

For a build to be included in the future sticky, I would like it to not contain any dupes. At least the build should not be dependent on dupes. Neither should it be dependent of BoTD, Doom, or similar items that are extremely difficult to find for the average player.

I think it's fine to post only stats and some suggestions of equipment, but also something about PvM gameplay since otherwise the stats may not make much sense, especially not to new players, and it's the new players who will be most interested in a builds-thread.

I will try to post a Strafezon and a Meteorb guide tonight if I come home in decent time.

EDIT: Oh, and we should of course indicate whether the build we post is for D2 classic, D2, 1.10 or pre-1.10, Ladder or Non-Ladder if needed, etc.
I will post a template that we can use later tonight.

Ok, then I'll try to include multi-tiered equipment. The problem is, is that I specialise in PvP so sub-standard equipment may not be sufficient. If you play NL it shouldn't be that difficult to trade for a low Botd, though it would be understandably difficult to find one in SP.

I would be interested to read you Strafezon guide. I tried making on once, horrible, even with 39X 3/20/20 :( .

And would you be interested more in a WolfBarb guide or a Fireball Sorc guide?

Many PvP-builds can fairly easily be "translated" to PvM, I think, although equipment can vary a lot. I think we should try to focus on what is possible for the average player, since it seems quite a few posters here don't play at Bnet at all. In my "template", I was thinking to include a "low end" and "high end" equipment suggestion section.

My latest Strafezon was a very extreme built, and she would not have survived a second in PvP. However, she killed faster than the hubby's Hammerdin PvM due to the all dex/no vita design.

A Wolfbarb guide would be very nice I think :) A Fireball sorc too, if you have time.

I should have the WolfBarb and Fireball sorc done soon. Also can we post another guide to a build that already has a guide.

One thing is that I'd like to point out is that too many builds out there rely on unique items or other classes to help them through areas or have nothing to fall back on if challenged by fire immune or physically immune monsters.

That's why I always frown on many of the fire type sorceresses since fire immunity seems stock standard in hell mode...

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with builds that are meant to be in a party, since many people play in parties. It's fun to team up with some friends and play together :)

Builds that are centered around a special item are more for specialist, I think. People who have played a lot of D2 and are looking for something specific, or people who play in clans where each player is highly specialised. There are however several builds that needs one or more certain items, that are very good PvM chars.

The most suitable most for most players, are those who can survive on their own and don't need any specific items. Obviously any type of char will get better the better equipment you have, but strong allround builds like the Meteorb sorc, the Hammerdin, the Lightning Trapsin, the Lightning Fury Javazon, the Wind druid etc, are playable by anybody.

@Deadalready: Most PvP builds focus on only one aspect of a build in order to maximise efficiency. Hybrids only exist in PvP when they use powerful skills that don't require many points, e.g. Frozen Orb or Smite. This is no longer 1.09, Nova/Orb sorc's are dead! It is just as easy to fully absorb two weak trees as a strong one. Obviously PvP oriented builds are not made for PvM, though even in the case of immunes, there are always mercenaries to help (only difficult parts being Ancients where a friend or glitch rush might be needed. There are only a few good Hybrid pvp'ers, in particular V/T's and other Paladin's.

Regarding Hammerdins and Wind Druids (and possibly Trapsins), if the comment is based on PvM, then it is quite true. However, to have the slightest chance against good duellers both builds, dispite being top tier, require Enigma. Unless you are one of those evil people who desynch charge everywhere (but even then you might need an Enigma).

Yep, I meant only for PvM. PvP in general requires a higher level of knowledge about the game, and also much more expensive equipment unless you are a Low Level Dueller. Many people who come to this forum however, are new to the game and play mostly or only PvM.

Well, suprisingly enough, LLD duelling equipment is quite expensive as well (though admittedly doesn't cost quite yet 500+ high runes for a godly one). Good pieces can go for Ist+, but what makes LLDing most difficult is that the items are so hard to find for trade. Not many people would bother to keep a 15% superior claw etc. Do you think I should try out a vLLD Assassin guide when I have time (that was the last build I played before I quit proper duelling)? Won't be very detailed (like my other guides) though...

can someone post builds for assassin and druid? they don't have to be so (can't find the english word :( ) "good", but only need to contain how to put skill points...

@Grimar: I can post a Martial Arts Assa guide tomorrow. Unfortunately haven't played Druid since 1.09, so I can't really post a Druid guide (except perhaps a Wind Druid guide since it's the cookie cutter built everbody make), I hope somebody else can make a guide for Druids...

I have alot of experience with Wind Druids (well relatively speaking) and Summon Druids
I have some experience with Fury/Rabies and Shamans
So which do you want?

Grimar: It's been *ages* since I played D2 so I can't remember exactly where I put my points but I'll relate to you my last druid build.
The theory behind it is to use the werebear to it's fullest potential, turning the druid into an awesome engine of destruction. Spend attribute points in vitality and strength for at least the first 10-12 levels, then add dexterity in the mix, energy is irrelevant as elemental skills play no part in this build and you just summon your pets in town and then "top-up" as needed. Werebeare/lycanthropy are your main skills backed up with oak sage for some serious life. Other pets should be nothing more than a few ravens and a couple of wolves- creepers are less useful; maul and shockwave help against bosses/uniques. Arm your druid with the highest damage weapons possible- luckily the druid gets fast attack rate with most axes and especially mauls- use them.
Summary: high damage output and the ability to absorb even more with huge health- a very simple build but fun nonetheless

A lot has changed now. Werebears are generally regarded as worse then wolves, and Shockwave doesn't stun properly.

A real shame that as I always thought the wolf to be a little weedy looking. That said though, I should have seen it coming- the wolf has always had the edge in sheer number of skills

so... i'm still waiting for more builds...

I still have no internet in my new flat, so I can only post from work, that's why I haven't posted any more builds :(

I think it would be excellent if Noober posted a Wind Druid guide since this is a common and popular build. Dottie has promised me to post a Hybrid Assa built, and my husband will make a Hammerdin guide as soon as he has time.

If you look for anything specific, please post it here :)
