Hello all,

I remember seeing a skill tree somewhere, picturing how many ranks in what skills are required to learn high level skills and such...

I'd be most grateful for a link :)

http://www.thottbot.com

Has basically all the World of Warcraft info you could want, including locations of NPC's, and a huge item database, plus all kinds of stuff on professions. Good site, can take a while to load because of the heavy traffic it recieves.

This site has a talent tool which could show what you need.

(although it only works in IE apparently)

Well.. mages are pretty okay anyway, but the consensus generally is that there are several 'must have' talents from the Arcane tree. My mage will be full frost so I don't take those either.

These 'must have' talents are:

-Improved Arcane Missiles (staple arcane damage spell.. and it's channelled making the talent worthwhile as it can otherwise easily be interrupted).

-Evocation (read it and you'll know why).

-Improved Arcane Explosion (not sure, but heck if it isn't popular. This talent effectively makes AE instant-cast).

-Improved Counterspell

And thus one will see many builds having at least 18 points in Arcane (that's the least you'll need to spend to get those talents).

Now if one wants to spend more in Arcane the one other talent most mentioned is Presence of Mind.

Of course, as I said before, it´s hard to go wrong with the mage talents.. Evocation is powerful but making a build such as yours definitely has merit. And, besides, I personally choose my builds mainly on what I like and not what´s (considered to be) best. A build taking talents from all trees (say at least 10 points in each) would be probably the least useful.. as one´d miss the better talents higher up that the dual tree builds can get. But even that is probably not going to ´nerf your mage to warlock stage´. ;)

If you want to read more, check out this thread from the mage forums. And remember you can respec your talents.

Good luck and have fun!

Yeah, me too. I just hate reading guides an taking others' advices on my character. Besides, you are developing lvl by lvl, so you hvae to decide over 1 single skill point each time you lvl up, and you must choose what's best at that time. Anyway, I'm happy with my reduced Fireball casting time for now :D
