So when exactly do you think there'll be 'Free' World of Warcraft servers? Nearly every single Online Role-playing game has eventually it's own free servers. Such as Ultima Online, Ragnarok Online, Dark Age of Camelot or Lineage 2. When will there be World of Warcraft servers ^_^ Fine day it'll be when one won't need to pay for playing anymore.

Considering that the fever has just started to spread around the world, I don't think one can estimate the time when they will release free servers

All I can say is that it definitely worth the monthly fee!

If Blizzard decides to make the game playable withouth a monthly fee, then it will be years down the line, no question about it.
And I didn't know Dark Age of Camelot was changed to being free either - which both the European and US sites doesn't seem to know either, seeing as they list subscription fees?
And I doubt it is "nearly all" that have gone in this direction, when you only list a marginal selection where at least one is not free.

No I'm serious, I really did play on a free Dark Age of Camelot server. Why would I lie o.o and there's also MU online too. At least a good handful -are- indeed free. No need to chew me out Xanny ^^;; and personally I think Warcraft is a rip-off if the leveling system isn't bad enough, if you skip a day or two in which you can't play, it's not like you can temporarily turn off the subscription. I mean why should you play for days in which you don't play, or a week? Seriously.

According to Mythics page they charge a subscription each month. According to GOA (the caretaker of most of Europes DAOC servers (all after they got the Italians?)) they also charge a subscription for DAOC Europe.
I don't know who runs it in Asia, but I'd almost bet money that they charge as well...
So how you can play on free servers is beyond me. (Unless it is some illegal "shard" I belive they are called, which emulates the DAOC servers)

Such is it with all pay to use MMOGs. And infact with many other "real life" services as well - for instance if you aren't watching TV for a day or a week you still pay for that periode.
You can cancel a subscription if you dont' wish to play/pay for a periode, but that is naturally after the current subscription periode is run out.

But I'm really not trying to argue Xanny *pet pats*, I was just wondering if there eventually would be an emulated shard, illegal or not ^^

Well - that I would care about, because emulated shards are along side pirated products, and thus not allowed on this forum.
