heart of the oak on a necro

yes its true, my necro has one now!! yay! i also have enigma and love teleporting on people and killing them in 1 hit. 20k damage is hard to stop when you have 8 lv. 20+ skeletons all attacking you at the same time from a teleport. (literally) are there any good helms for a necro that i dont know about? i have a shako and some tiara that gives +2 to all necro skillz and posion resist but they dont really compete with my other awesome items. i also need skill charms as well, preferably for bowazons and summoning skills, but thats another story..
oh yah, whats that bow called that does a s&^* load of damage and gives you lv 20 fanatacism. (it might be a rune-word though, im not sure)

This is not a trading forum, so I can't help you with the skillers, try a diablo trade forum or transform grand charms you find in Hell with 3 pgems.
The bow with lvl 12-15 Fanaticism is called Faith and it's a runeword, Ohm-Jah-Lem-Eld.
The best possible helmet for your necro would be a rare circlet with +2 necro skills, fcr, resist, +strengh/dex, +faster run walk. Apart from that, a Shako is fine, it suits most spellcasting characters.

Summon Necro
. I'm not sure if a Summon Necro needs much FCR so generally a Shako is enough (though my Bone Necro used a 08 Valk). Btw, Bowazons don't uses skillers, rather 3/20/20's or poison charms.

For some Bowazons P&M skillers might be useful in PvM, not in PvP though. Before I managed to find all my 3/xx/xx sc:s or 10/xx/xx gc:s I used a couple of P&M skillers on my PvM Strafezon.
Has anyone tried the Faith bow? I haven't had time to play much this ladder.

I was reading an analysis a while ago, and Faith deals more damage then a Windforce (quite a lot more), unless it's in a party with auras (e.g. Concentration w/Hammerdin etc.). And as I understand, Faith will multiply 3/20/20's much more efficiently.

Interesting, I'll have to try it some day if I ever get time to play as much D2 as is needed to find the runes. I also found a guide that compared bows, and for PvM, it was suggested that WF with a Faith Merc or Faith with a Might merc would be the most efficient.

My Necromancer Summoner (guide coming up this week) would absolutely love a Faith bow. A Might merc with a Pride weapon and Bramble armor and a necro with a Faith bow would need an obscene amount of high runes, but would result in 10-15 skeletons which deal 1200 average damage each, while reflecting up to 1010% damage. And I'm not counting Amplify Damage yet...

WF w/Faith Merc would probably be better since much of Faith's damage comes from its aura and is not multiplied. Though I hardly think that Faith is required from PvM, and generally PvP does not allow for mercs.

Oh, of course it's not required in PvM, not even a WF is even if you have to love it
The new ladder runewords are incredible overpowered for PvM, but it would still be fun just to try out Faith.
PS Your last quote about Summoner Necros is from Moltovir, not me.

Oops sorry, I forgot the change the tag when I copied.
Speaking of new Runewords, Grief is the best IIRC, and has changed PvP vastly as well. Too bad stuff like Last Wish is so weak for its cost.

yah..but mine has a heart of the oak!! what!! hahahaha.... yah, a faith bow would be bad @$$ on my necro with all my skeletins. and revived hell monsters.
..dont want to waste my valuable skill points now would I...
as far as Greif goes, yah its damn near the best iirc ive seen/heard about/been used against in PvP. i have the might merc also, so that alwyas helps (but not really in duels, i just telport like crazy and get cheap kills and laugh at weaker hardcore players!! hahahaha!!)
wow..ive been playing to much diablo 2!

One must be crazy to try to PvP with a Summoner, so unless your a PK'er, I don't think that's going to happen soon
Btw, the lag depends on your internet connection, I've played in games with over 50 skeletons from 4 Summoners and could still play at a manageable framerate.

i can still duel with my summoner, its possible. i usually dont duel against sorcs or zons because they kick peoples @$$es!!! ive killed a few barbs on hardcore and a really crappy hammerdin. n00b. i dont duel much anyway becaue im on hardcore and i dont want any greedy n00b to take my items when i die, so basically i do cow runs/bloody hill runs/ mephisto runs/ just for the hell of it runs all day and get no experiecne bucuz im lv. 88.

I would also like to remind you that this is not Bnet, but an internet forum where you have considerably more time to spell properly. This forum is for helping people who play D2, not for bragging about PK:ing of weaker characters and calling other players noobs.
If you don't want other players to take your items when you die, you can simply disallow looting of your corpse.

...well im sorry than.
i used the @ and $$ symbols on purpose so it wouldnt be swearing. Well when you play d2 for money...it gets more hectic, also.
and sorry about boasting about my character, people just underestimate necros nowadays so im trying to stress that summoners arn't
that bad. and i bet if you had a character you worked hard on and wasted many hours away trying to make, you'd brag about it too.....ah.. i give up.
so moltovir, whats a very basic layout of your summoner?
heres mine:
20 sm
20 ss
10-20 corpse explosion
few points into summon resist
10 decrepify
10 into posion stuff
rest into synergies or whatever you else you need. (this dosnt include my +13 to all necro skills totals)
thats a very basic version. i tried expanding into the posion tree, since all my items give me +13 to all necro skills combined, just a couple points here and there gives me a lv. 15 posion nova and a lv. 15 posion explosion with synergies. ouch. although it dosnt help in duels, it works well against annoying cows on "h3ll difficulty" (i put a 3 there so its not swearing!)
thats my advice on a summoner necro. im not really a fan of golems so i dont really bother. i put 1 point into each, so they are all at level 14. any advice/flame/rants?

@=SK=: It's ok, just choose different words in the future
Regarding necros, I know many people underestimate the Summoning necro, and I think they have got an unfair bad reputation. If you wish to express all the advantages of your character and playing style, try to describe what you do that you think is effecient and what is good with your build rather than talking down on other players. I know many D2 forums are full of people who call each other noobs etc, but this forum is different since there are several members here who are new to the game and who really need guidance from experienced players.
Btw, "Hell difficulty" is no problem spelling out since it's not a swear word in this context!

Your skill layout is very good but - you don't have any AI curses! Imho those are invaluable for surviving Hell difficulty. This is my skill layout:
20 RS
20 SM
(both are slvl 35 atm, boosted by wand, head, and + summoning skills)
18 Dim Vision
15 Corpse Explosion
1 in all other curses
1 in all other bonespells
1 in Clay Golem, GM and Summon Resist
1 in Mages
1 in Revives
(all boosted by +5 necro skills)
Gear: all kinds of assorted crap, most of it magic or rare aimed on MF and gold find. I have some uniques (a Harlequin Crest, Goldwrap and War Travelers) and two pieces of the Trang'Ouls set. FYI: I never twink

Summoner can be very effective (and 'noobish' seeing as most duels (excepting Revive cheese) don't allow pre-summoning from skeles) in PvP, especially against melee (or bad internet connections :s). Of course, the only way to win is by abusing Summon Stacking, but that's another matter.
and sorry about boasting about my character, people just underestimate necros nowadays so im trying to stress that summoners arn't that bad. and i bet if you had a character you worked hard on and wasted many hours away trying to make, you'd brag about it too.....ah.. i give up.
Considering that Bone Necro's are universally considered top tier duellers and Summoners top tier PvM'ers, I would hardly call Necros 'underestimated' (top tier is very tight, no sorc's or zons at all!).
Your skill layout is very good but - you don't have any AI curses! Imho those are invaluable for surviving Hell difficulty.
With Enigma, I'm afraid to say that Hell is a walk in the park, though I would agree completely that Curses are essential for survival on any other Necro build. Though I do find the 10 pnts into Decrep and 0 into Amp strange. One point wonders are called so for a reason!

i assumed you knew that i would have at least 1 point in Amp Damage. oops. im not a big fan of curses and enigma is the reason why. i like decrepify because it slows and does AP, which is fun to use on cows. dont forget LR too...
18 into dim vision, hmmm i must have overlooked that one or im missing something, just cant think of it right now....Does it give a synergy bonus or something? I think if i remake a necro, id focus more on the bone spells that posion, but a level 35 P. Nova powered by a level 35 P. Explosion (synergy) is very nasty. Ive also seen people launching Bone Spirits doing insane damage, 10k style like hammerdins, but its hard to manage all those skill points....
heres my items: enigma, heart of the oak/stormshield (primary weapon/shield) a rare grim wand ith +2 summoning, +3 SM and +1 to Attract and and rare tower shield full of perfect topazs...oops (secondary), waterwalk, shako, hellmouth, string of ears (dont ask), an ammy with +3 summoning, and 2 rings with + necro skills. my inverotry is also full of skill charms, full rejuvs and sojs! yay!
i need a faith bow and i think ill be set for a while.
