I created a new character on a low population server, Sylvanas. At the very beginning I didn't need any company, one can manage on her own quite well till lvl 10 or so. Now I'd like to find a party (especially that I'm a Priest, a very party-oriented character, not fun alone), and I have to realize that the place is full of nutters Players of the age of 11, inexperienced, cheeky, egoist, cursing all around, shouting in the general chat all the time, with character names that you would most likely to see in porn sites rather than in a legendary fantasy realm... And there's no way to move my char anywhere

I know I can put anyone on the ignore list and yeah, general chat can be turned off, but how on earth am I supposed to find a decent bunch of players here?

It is a general problem in MMOGs, that there are huge amounts of "immature" and similar elements around.
The best you can do - in my experience is to leave groups when you encounter such people, and avoid grouping with them again.
Because of the nature of MMOGs and especially the ease of play in WoW it will attact the "sterotypical" 14-year old immature persons which grief, ninja-loot, leave group when they are done etc (naturally they aren't 14 years old all of them or vice versa, it is a sterotype).

My first screening process is how they type to me. If they use a lot of the "MMOG" abbriviations (AOL, Chatlanguage, Leet - call it what you will) of plz, thx, u, r etc and exsessive use of exclamation marks - I'll avoid grouping with them if possible. It might sound harsh, but my play time is to valurable to spend with people ruining it
(naturally - you can read if it is somebody bad at english or simply to lazy to type "you" and types "u")


By the way - it is perfectable possible to solo a priest. My Xandax character is a holy/disc priest, and have soloed quite a deal of the 49 levels he has
Just takes some practice.

Not at all, you're absolutely right. Choice of words and language gives a little hint about the personality of the player. The problem is, players like that seem to be in majority here I don't know why the GMs don't kick them, especially those with "interesting" character names.

Hm... Compared to my mage, this poor little Nightelf is really not effective, especially in melee. Even if she was, it's just not fun to wander around alone

I'm afraid that b/c of the first bad impression everybody will leave this server and it'll never host a bigger population

I must have landed on a server of saint cause I have not have one bad experience with people ninja-looting or being obnoxious. There are groups on the server that are known for their greed (sais the rumours, but I have yet to experience it myself), but as all of them are of the same guild it is very easy to avoid them.

As for soloing a priest it is not at all as hard as everyone makes it to be. If you go shadow you will undoubtedly be able to level you character up much faster then if you go say disc/holy. If leveling up fast is not of concern any talent tree build will suffice. However you will have to realize that you cannot take an elite mob the same level as you on your own (like a shaman could).

Priests are one of the most rewarding classes to play (IMO), but the fun part really start at level 30 (as it does for most classes but especially the priest). This is when you get mind control.

As for not enough people coming to the server. If you are active enough and make friends in there they are bound to want to come in and play with you again. All you really need is a network of 10-15 people and you can manage to do everything in the game except the raid bosses.

Which server is that?
I have no problems with greedy groups as long as I can find people on my side too. It wouldn't be fun without enemies anyway, would it?

Hm, this one makes me think. What if a PvP server is full of Hordes and Alliance is the minority or the way around? The major party could easily defeat the other smaller one...

I play on stormreaver. On our server horde i definately the minority. According to realm statistics pulled it's 77% vs 23%. So a really small portion are horde. However I do not really notice it as I'm a PvE guy at heart.

Heh, I am playing horde on Stormreaver Only lvl 23 with that char though, so I haven't seen too much of PvP yet

I'm playing horde as well. I have currently got two characters on that server

Aleachim: lvl 60 UD Priest
Woodhorn: lvl 23 Tauren Druid

cool! I play as Yeltsu lvl 23 Tauren Shaman. If you don't have a guild there, then I could invite you, we moved our guild from Dragonblight. that guild is still pretty fresh though, I think I am the highest level guy there.

I'm part of a guild (Conclave of Shadows) that currently have like 60 members ranging from level 10 to 60. Actually it was me and some school mates that created that guild. We are a quite active guild and you are sure to meet us from time to time

Okay, we just started the guild: "The Sublime" there, (the guild on Dragonblight is called "League of the Sublime") and I did not know anyone there before I was invited by one of the officers after playing with her and this other guy for about 3 hours, just doing random quests. I have now become very good friends with some of the members, and we have been pondering the idea of meeting in real life (even though some of them live in the Netherlands, and one is from Denmark)

The Sublime have currently about 20 members from lvl 2-23 and LotS have about 40 members with 2 lvl 60 players and about 7 lvl 50+ players.
