So I was woundering, when i gamble i notice there is never a choice for an upgraded item like a deamonhide sash or thing like that. Does it matter or does it just say the basic thing and there is a chance of getting an upgraded item or does it say in the item list what type it is?

There is a chance that the item will be exceptional or unique, yes. If you gamble with a highlevel character you'll rarely get a normal item.

When you gamble, items always appear as normal items, but since gambling is affected by character level, you will, as Moltovir says, have a good chance of getting exceptional or elite versions of the item when you gamble with a high level character. You also have a slim chance of gambling set and unique items, but the odds for that do not change with character level I think.

Rings and Amulets (the most common things gambled for) have a 1 in 11 chance to be rare, 1 in 10000 to be set and 1 in 100000 to be unique as far as I know (not sure about set and unique though).
