All masteries are good to use, especially if you can turn a club into a weapon of mass destruction like I did with the combo of BASH. I'd say, for you being level 15 for example and completed the den of evil quest, give 10 points in mace mastery and 5 in bash and watch the fun as you kick Andarials arse. Just an example, but my point is, is that any of the masteries are useful.

I once made a whirlwind barbarian with a polearm, worked like a charm. :D

Some sets are very nice, like the IK set, but a combination of the top uniques can easily outclass any set (and those can be outclassed by a combination of godly rares). IK's set however, is very good because it has excellent damage (both elemental and physical), high resists, all the necessary melee attributes (leech, CB, ...) and it's rather cheap compared to unique items.

Polearm and spear both do a very high amount of damage and have a long range, but they're rather slow and you can't use a shield (thus sacrificing protection). Maces don't require dexterity and do high damage, but have a very short range (so you have to be close to your target). Axes are fast but do lower damage, and swords are somewhere inbetween axes and maces but they can all be used onehanded and you have a greater amount of swords to choose from when defining your equipment. If you want to use onehanded weapons, I'd say swords or axes, and if you want to go twohanded then use mauls or polearms. That's what I would do anyway.

Firstly top uniques/rares/magical/dupes etc. >>>>>>>>>...>>> IK set (or all sets really). Though IK is a very good budget set.

Your weapon choice depend's heavily on your main skill and budget. For example, Whirlwind is best with a Berserker Axe (this is agreed on by almost every good/top player) as it hase best range and damage and hits the speed breakpoint. But unless you are somewhat rich, you won't be able to find a socketed Zerker, let alone Breath of the Dying runes/Beast/Death Cleaver/Grief. Of course, the Zerker is also a late game weapon.

When you use the IK-set what is the best skill?
Seeing that the mace is a powerfull weapon that requires both hands to equip I guess Concentrate is a good skill.
Because Berserk does tremendous damage while making you more vulnerable, it is probably not a good idea to use two-handed weapons or even melee, can berserk be used for throwing weapons?

IK is also a very good WW set, as the Maul can easily reach the -60 breakpoint when you fill the sockets with shaels or IAS jewels. Concentrate doesn't really benefit from this, and a concentrator mainly wants things with as high ED as possible (Stone runeword armors and the like). But in fact the set is good for any build (except Frenzier then), because the properties are useful for everyone.

TCS-Aznshizzle: IK armour for 2 SoJ:s? You ripped the other guy off, even though you didn't know it! I would say the IK armour is worth 25 pgems or so. This list provides some approximate prices for European softcore ladder:

As for how good the IK set is, I have nothing to add really to Moltovir and Noober's comments: it's a nice and relatively easy to find set, but a combination of the top uniques/rare/runewords/magical items is far, far better if you are lucky enough to find them or willing to trade for duped runewords.

other items

well, i couldnt be bothered to read the above so forgive me if i repeato someone but, an eth botd cb for a wep, ss(storm shield) umed or p daimoned is good for a shield, areats soc with a ed jewel, for helm, armor, ether an archon fort or enigma isnt bad ether, for gloves steelrends, and for boots ik, and for belt lesse,ik belt or somthing, and bk or soj wouldnt hurt for rings and for ammy somthing like mara's or somthing along the likes

SoJ's are quite useless for 95% of the Barbarian builds, as most builds benefit more from extra Enhanced or +Min/Max damage than +skills. For the same reason I wouldn't use a Mara's Kaleidoscope. The +Skills isn't needed, and the Barbarian can easily get his resists from somewhere else than a valuable amulet slot. 3 Malah rewards + 5 Natural Resistance brings every barb to a base of -30 resistance in Hell; it shouldn't be very hard to find another 105% on other equipment than your amulet (shield, helm, single strong resists on jewelry, +all resists small charms, ...). I always use the Amulet slot for 1 or 2 strong resists (fire and lightning are the most necessary), leech, and some extra life. BK wedding bands can easily be outclassed by any rare life leech ring, except for the +1 skills, but I'd prefer +str/dex/mana/life over +skills any day for a Barbarian. And the other equipment you listed is plain Cookie-Cutter Barbarian equipment, nothing wrong with it, but not very original :p

Edit: and where's your Cannot Be Frozen? CBF is an absolute requirement for any melee build. In my opinion, rare life (or dual) leech ring + Raven Frost outclasses any other combination of rings.

A lot of people believe SoJ, BK and Mara's are the best items for all builds, when in reality there are much more suitable items for many builds. For a melee Barb, I would certainly not use neither SoJ nor Mara's, and BK together with Ravenfrost only if I had good AR from other sources and couldn't find one of those godly rare rings. I totally agree with Moltovir that the best possible ring combination would be Ravenfrost a rare with ll or dual leach/+stats/min-max dam/+life

For ammo, Highlords is often good for a WW barb since you want very high AR. Otherwise, a good rare. Mara's is best for trading in my opionion :D

If you use a shield, I prefer BoTD in an eth BA instead of a CB - slightly higher damage and faster weapon speed. Like Noober has already written, BA is the preferred choice for WW rather than CB.

Just to tell you, If you play ladder, the worst possible Grief is better than a 315%ED Eth BotD.

IMHO Steelrends is just complete waste of STR. Something like Dracul's would be much better. And Goreriders are better then IK's. For your belt, Verdungo's or Arachnid's Mesh (if you get Enigma) is probably best.

Highlord's Wrath is the general cookie-cutter ammy. Though Angelics for PvP is better.

Regarding rings, SoJ is a waste except for Singer Barbs. Dual-leech is not findable in 1.10 so most likely if you want that, you will have to take a dupe. CBF is not compulsory if you get Enigma as being frozen will be a benefit then (more attacks and no decrease in movement speed assuming a WW build). A FCR ring with good secondary mods might be best with Enigma.

And is this a PvM or PvP build?

Oh, I completely forgot about Grief. I haven't played much this ladder.
