Spoiler warning just in case
The NPC's need to be more alien and less human. In kotor 2 there were only like 3 alien possiblilities (one of them is only availible if you choose to be on the DS and one of them one looks human anyway) in your party. Might be other races who look human.
I would like the party of ten to be like this
-twilek (maybe a blue one for LS and a red one for DS)
-cerean(you know the cone heads maybe as a jedi master)
-bounty hunter any species
-HK-47 (of course)
-T3-M4 (just because that's how it has been so far)
-the Carth Onasi figure (maybe Carth Onasi one of the few I wouldn't mind returning I don't know how that would work though)
-one of those lizard guys (I think they are called chistori or something like that)
-then some random guy who has very little to do with the plot
-and that's pretty much all I can think of right now

I think there should be a Mon Calamari. Perhaps one who is very different from what one would expect from the species... like a space pirate or something.
And - though I know it can't happen because of continuity issues with the Expanded Universe - a Noghri would rule.
http://www.starwars.com/databank/specie ... index.html
A Falleen would make for an interesting party member as well, particularly one who wasn't the most upstanding of citizens as they are supposed to have the ability to produce natural pheromones that make them irresistable to the opposite sex...plus they change colors with their emotions and that's just kind of cool.
Perhaps some less human looking characters (outside of wookiees) could be neat. An Ithorian Jedi or a Bothan or something...has anyone noticed that all of the Jedi so far have basically looked human (horns, head-tails [lekku] and what not aside) with the exception of Vandar? Let's get some diversity! How about a Jedi Dug (a Sebulba with lightsabers, that's scary).

How about a jedi droid, like grevious. Yes, a nogri would be nice, with the gas shooting guns. A Bothan would be nice. I don't like Ithorians very much, odd head.

I think your party should be almost completely interchangable. I think you should have 1 or 2 people who are always with you, then the rest are conditional characters (members who only come if you are male/female, ls/ds...it should also matter how you complete quests)
At the beginning they should ask you what the Exile and Revan were, and based on those answers it can add or subtract characters that are available.
I'm just so tired of always having the exact same party members that never really change. You're allies should also shift attitudes when they shift alignments. Disciple had DS mastery once when I was playing and he still *****ed whenever I made a DS response.
As for species, the Devaronian they made for the KOTOR II but removed sounded really awesome (a Jedi Sith-hunter named, Dvarkar Gharhk). For some reason, I'd like to see a Mandalorian in your party who can become a Jedi in your journey. A Falleen would look cool (Think Prince Xizor).

It'd be nice to see some less humanoid aliens from a aesthetic point of view, but I only care about the characterisation.
That's why I'll scream if there's no character like Kreia. Words can't express how impressed I was with her and how deep and meaningful her story, beliefs and personality were.
Jolee is the same, only to a lesser extent. I want characters who'll disrupt the polar opposite alignments and make me actually think about stuff. Sure I always play on the lightside (I tried to be evil... but it was too hard to be such a bastard to some of the NPCs), but it was nice when Kreia challenged my decisions, or when Jolee revealed his past and everything that entailed.
HK-47... well... I like talking to him, though I never use him. I find other characters much more useful. Ditto With T3.
I'd like each of the new characters to have some kind of special ability which makes them unique. Like Bao-Dur's shield disruptor, or Mira's ability to walk through mines. And lots and lots of interaction with them where you can see more changes and have more reactions from them with regards to what you do.

ya! i thought itd be cool to have an orange twi'lekk on the team. i think ive only seen those once. and, i wonder if the "jar jar" people exsist during the kotor times (dont know the terminology for his kind). if they did have a "jar jar" i just wouldnt want him to be so...clueless, or reckless.

NO! No Jar-Jar (btw, they're called Gungans)! That would be too annoying wreckless or not. Now, if we were able to go to Naboo and slaughter Gungans mercilessly that would be cool...

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing one or two returning characters. I imagine T3 and HK will return (but, please, no more druids....). Likewise, having characters such as Carth, Bastilla, and Jollee (though I know DS endings complicate this) could be interesting. It's always nice to have a familiar face or two in sequals.
Of new characters, I'd like to see fully fleshed out NPCs with distinct personalities (characters like Kreia, Jolee, Bastilla, Atton, and Carth...). It's probably, for this reason, that I'm not a huge advocate for seeing major party changes that depend on your choice. If that happens, I forsee many poorly fleshed out NPCs. I'd rather the development teams work on fleshing out 10 or 11 really interesting and well thought out party members, than 20 mediocre or poor ones.
It would be interesting to have some more unique races represented, preferably some of the less human looking ones. I think an ithorian party member could be interesting. Perhaps, recruiting a younger character from Yoda and Vandarr's race. It might be interesting to see whatever that munchkin race is, as something other than a wise sage.

a noghri. WOULD. rule. but i wouldent mind seeing a gungan jedi, as long as they were more like general tarpals and less like jar jar. a faleen, would, be ok i suppose. but personally i would like to see one of general thrawns race. (Chiss i think). other things id like to see more of is.
A sith. no.. the actual sith race... not the sub beings that have run off because the jedi farted on the hood of their cars for the heck of it.
the iridonian homeworld (the homeworld of darthmaul/bao-dur) would be a nice thing to see, more of that race. they are an interesting people.
a squirrel jedi.
trandoshan jedi.

I think you should have just random people. like a droid like grevious, or a murderer, something. but have them all random, like everytime you play the game the names are different, the faces are different, and the races are.

Randomization would be interesting, but half the fun is moldin the charatcer to your likes, and lets face it, not all of us like to play the DS every other game.

I think OneWingedAngel meant that the NPCs should be random, not that the main character should be...
As far as that goes, while it would be interesting it would also be pretty difficult to do. If every time you play the game you get all different people joining you, the programers would have to write backgrounds and dialog for all of them (unless they all just say the samething, but where's the fun in that?), which means there'd have to be voice actors for all these characters, which means those actors would probably have to be paid...
Eh, I just don't see it happening, though it would be pretty impressive if it did (and was done well, of course).
Frankly, as long as the game doesn't suck and the characters are interesting and fleshed out, little else matters to me.

I think the random thing would be awful. If the characters were random each time then giving them a backstory and working out interactions would be almost impossible to do. What I love about Kotor is 'getting to know' the npcs and having their stories expanded throughout the game. I don't know of any other game where you can just run around talking to your party members for 20 minutes at a time.

Continuity characters and some new ones
I think KoTOR 3 would include the franchise characters, (like them or not) T3-M4 and Hk-47. I know they aren't favourites for all players, but wether the game continues the story where it ended in kotor 2 or it starts in a different moment in the future or in the past of Revan's Saga, they would need this kind of characters to connect everything to the 1st game.
Droids are not subject to aging as much as humans. Some alien races live longer, etc...
If it was a "quest for Revan" or "Follow the steps of Revan" storyline:
I would love Revan and the Exile to appear.
A Mandalorian Explorer of the Outer Rim would be really useful.
There will be male/female Jedi, at least 2 apart from the player's character.
One of these Jedi should be leading the group or acting as mentor to find him... perhaps Atris?????
There will be a Scoundrel (Always one, Mission Vao and Atton Rand) but i think it will be a completely new one.
I don't think they will use many characters of the 2nd game. I love them all, but Kreia talks about their fate like it couldn't be changed... even said the handmaiden wouldn't want to anything more about you, Mira will continue to travel helping people in distant planets...
A Trandoshan mercenary-bounty hunter could be really cool, although it gets annoying when NPC's don't speak Basic and you end up memorising some of the phrases they use... then you notice you've been playing too much...
And please: NEW ENEMIES!!!
Sith troopers are so cool!! But in Kotor 2 there were few really new monsters/bad guys, original ones. That would be solved of the actions takes place in distant and new worlds of the unknown regions.
I hope they include Coruscant though, perhaps that's where this adventure could start from.
