Is there a button that can be pressed so nearby interactive objects will become highlighted (like in Neverwinter Nights) ?

No, nothing like that.

Its not really needed considering that you can have all inventory objects labeled while on the ground, and all switches and such are marked by a blue dot on your mini map.
