Weapon Damage and Weapon Speed

Do the weapon ratings given on the character sheet factor in differences in weapon speed? In other words, when I compare a fast longbow to a slow crossbow, do the min and max damage numbers given on the sheet reflect the fact that the longbow is firing more often?

Logically, it seems that the numbers do NOT reflect differences in speed - otherwise, a slow heavy crossow I obtained early in the game would be outperforming a quest-related longbow I received in Act II. That seems wrong....

So - if I am correct that the damage statistics do not reflect speed, how much faster is a fast attack speed that a slow attack speed? By what factor do I need to multiply damage from the fast weapon to compare it to damage from the slower weapon....

I haven't seen these figures anywhere, but I think they would be very helpful. Faster or slower attacks can presumably make a big difference when combined with Alacrity and Fierce Renewal.

If you've got a stopwatch handy, you can measure the time it takes to fire ten* shots with a weapon, and from that you can get the time per shot and from that the damage per second for both weapons.

*Ten shots is more accurate than measuring one shot, where your reaction time can still cause a significant disparity.
