figure it would be nice that if the old chap is retiring he can give all his goodies to the next generation of heroes...

You can't switch items between single-player games. Besides, you wouldn't be able to use them anyway...

just dont like the idea of letting all this good stuff get to waste...

guess i got that attitude from diablo2

besides i wouldn´t just transfer the "elite" items, as i thought would be obvious...

Not only elite items have level requirements. In fact, all items do.
