Prevent Monster Heal

My Merc's weapon has Prevent Monster Heal on it, but I've heard that PMH doesn't work in Merc equipment. What's the deal with it?

Poison damage does the same as prevent monster heal anyway.

I am very certain that PMH does not work with mercs.
