Magic arrows and bolts?

I could have this all wrong, but…
I was bored with Diablo II and started playing around in single player with a *gasp* character editor. I discovered that it is very easy to add magic abilities to Arrows and Bolts. For example, I could make a Toxic Arrow of Vileness, and my arrows dealt poison damage and prevented monster heal. I found it very interesting that the “replenishes quantity” ability worked, providing me with effectively infinite ammo.

It boils down to, “Why don’t we have magic, set, and/or unique arrows and bolts?”

I see someone pointing out:

1. Bow and crossbow zon’s are already powerful enough, they don’t need any help!

2. Arrows and bolts are pretty common drops, perhaps they would be too easy to find?

3. I am not sure on this, but it's possible that arrows and bolts don't have item levels, so adding them to the game would innvolve more work than I think.

There are all sorts of options for this (I would restrict the sort of modifiers that can spawn on them, completely eliminating offense abilities and only letting them spawn defense abilities) but I don’t think having a unique arrow / bolt with replenishes quantity would be outrageous. Maybe have some magical ones with damage reduction and resistance bonuses.

I also don’t think they would ruin the economy. I wonder if blizzard thinks about the trade economy when they create new items and runewords?

Magic Arrows and bolts

Well, my opinion is that they wouldn't make magic arrows and/or bolts because of the already heavily modded bows and xbows out there, plus the zon's bow and crossbow skills like exploding arrow, freezing arrow etc. I still think its a cool idea, but I don't think i'd live long enough to appreciate the modded arrows after I got mowed down by a zon using multiple shot owning me with massive fire dmg :/

It would be nice to not have to carry so many arrows in one's inventory when adventuring. Besides people are able to get their hands on one handed throwing javelins that replenish and wield a shield at the same time.

I don't think magic or unique/set arrows is a good idea. My reason for my statement is that it would make it too easy for the Amazon to adapt to each area. There are resources online that will tell you what monster resistances are. Magic arrows would also unbalance the game by adding even more damage from a common item drop. The Amazon does not suffer the disadvantage of Iron Maiden when fighting, so let's not add any more incentive for people to play an already powerful character(a bit too powerful in my opinion).

Agreed, I can't imagine pvping against that with a lower resist in hell... Almost any char i've made and pvped are almost instantly killed by multiple shot alone.. It would be awesome to have, but also unfair in the same sense, just imagine a +2 bow/crossbow skills wep, with +2 skills arrows, piercing shot, +dex, and/or even socketed lol... no thank you sir.
