Party Save File Does Not Appear
If your party’s save file and world state save file exist, but do not appear in-game, your save files are corrupted. Please restore using the backup files. (The save files and the backup files are both located in \My Documents\My Games\DungeonSiege2\Save. The backup file has a ".bak" extension. Delete the main "ds2party" and ".ds2radar" files and rename the backup files by removing the .bak extension.)


So what happens when the save file is totally gone for some odd reason, create another Save file?

For your problem if you lost your game folder and had no backup then I am afradi that you have to restart from the begining.

In case you didn't check at right place, the Save folder is in
"My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2". But it's path that depends of the user you used to connect to your computer. For example "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Dungeon Siege 2" if you connected as the user "Administrator".

About the troubleshooting you quoted, I just had one case when it wasn't true.

I was playing with one char X1 then restored a backup I manualy done fo the Save. This save hadn't the current char X1 that I was playing but had another char X2.

After to have restored this folder and launch the game, I couldn't continue on this char X2. To solve the problem I just had to click new Game then I could select the X2 char but didn't, instead I go back to main screen and then I could continue with X2 char.

Yep, you definitly got that right. instead of going into C drive, i went to administrator documents, my games, DS2 and my saves were there. tyvm!
