Now i have have read a lot on this bug and not really found anything that applys to my problem. After i talk to the Soldier captain and talon is shown in the movie flying atop the castle , I head to the battleground. *I dont save or exit to town, like all the other bugs talk about, just head right to him*.

When i get there the movie starts up and he isnt in the picture at all.. and when the battle starts he is nowhere to be seen. Anyone know a remedy for this problem. Happened on my first run through of the game, very disheartening.

Okies, have you tried using the back up files first?

If that doesn't work try with this but -

http://www.htheking.de/dragfix.zip

- unzip the file "ds2InstallDir"/Ressources Directory (quit a few .ds2res files there)
- make sure that the quest is active
- speak to the commander again (with the quest active)

This will skip the fight but should solve the problem.

If not I think there's another solution out there, but I'd have to look for it, so let me know.

Ive tried backups a number of times and it hasn't seemed to work, so i think im gonna go on the fix. I'll let you know how i make out. Thanks again!

Dragon Fix worked like a charm, i even got to fight the dragon the second time so i got all the drops. Thanks again.

still no dragon!

this is the second time I have tried to complete this quest - AND STLL the dragon doesn't appear!! I have the latest version 2.2- I have tried to run the http://www.htheking.de/dragfix.zip fix (doesn't recognise the file type! ) and Yes- I am a novice gamer ... so I implore anyone out there with a scrap of compassion for one so new to the complexities and joys of losing whole days in trying to complete the simplest quest - to come forward and help me - without censure without ridicule. thank you

Hey no problem, we all started at one point in time ... and then lost huge amounts of the said time from then on

Let's see - you downloaded the fix. It's a .zip file so let's start with the first step

- you unpacked it and got yourself a file dragfix.ds2res right?
- next goes finding the right directory, now that should be something like this:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Resources

[or if you installed it somewhere else like I did, because I use a different folder and partition, you need to find where it is. Mine is:
E:\Games\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege 2\Resources
but it can be anything really]

-next goes the copying/moving of the file to that folder (it's filled with .ds2res files
-close everything
-run the game
-speak to the commander again (with the quest active)
