Lost Saved Games

I just installed and started playing DS:LOA. I started on the original DS game section. When I started it back up today, it couldn't find my saved games. I did notice that when I exited it asked if I wanted to exit without saving my game (since I had just saved it I said yes). I started a new character, and let it save when I exited, and those games are showing up. But is there anyway to make the game see my missing saved games?

When you installed and played the original Dungeon Siege, were your saved games stored in a folder within your DS folder? After installing LOA, the game now wants to store your saved games in the My Documents folder, with your operating system, in the C partition. Look in your My Documents folder that accompanies your operating system, and see if you now have save folders for DS and LOA there.

The way Microsoft did this is very irratating to me, because I keep my games on a different drive from my operating system. I once tried to move the saves to where I wanted them, but it didn't work.

You might try just copying and pasting your old saves from their original location to the new location. I'll bet that would work.

no go

I had never previously played DS. The original came with the LOA version, so both of them were just installed. It put the saved games under My Documents, and I copied them to the other save directory under the game itself, but that didn't help.

It seems like the game thinks I have no save files because when I exited I didn't tell it to save right then and there. Of course, it's Microsoft, so that shouldn't surprise me ;) I couldn't find any patches listed for LOA on the Microsoft site. Do you know of any?

I think the only patch made for LOA was called a "Bonus Pack," and it added content, but I don't think it fixed bugs. Also, it was made to run only on the XP operating system. You can get it at a place like File Shack.

Wish I knew what happened to your old saves. I run the original game off a separate install from the DS:LOA install, so I haven't encountered your problem. I don't know why you should have to save before exiting, to keep your old saves. I did not have this problem when I played LOA. Maybe someone else can advise.
