certain items have "grants skill x" as a property and i'm trying to figure out exactly what they do. i have a character that is a spirit/storm with death ward level 1; when i equip an item that grants death ward, the level doesn't change. now, i also have an item that grants armour handling...nothing seeminly changes when i equip that item, either.

so do the items grant skills from other masteries, or do they only give you a skill in one of your masteries in which you have no levels?

yea, the item you have that grants you a skill you already have is worthless for that aspect. But the armorhandling one is useful because you dont' have that skill. The reason you don't notice much of a difference with the Armor Handling one is because it just lowers the str requirements for shields and armor by 8% and increases your armor absorbsion by 6%. Using items that grants skills can work out really well for you. Like the Theban Shield (set item) grants the batter skill, which my hunter LOVES while he is using his spear/shield. I've also found a helm that grants onslaught, and a neck peice that grants blade honing.
