I mostly see storm/spirit and earth/spirit builds that use staff attack to uber-pwn anything in their path, which is fine, but is anyone sucessfully using an actual elemental spell (ice shard/thunderball/flame surge/volcanic orb) as main skill? I want to build some sort of sorceress ala D2 if possible.

I guess the long ranged spells like ice shards, flame surge, thunderball, and the others are not quite deadly (not succes dealing much damage to the enemies) especially in low levels, My char is Lvl 15 druid(nature/storm) and I seldom to use long ranged spells like that i'd prefer the combination of storm nimbus, Heart of Oaka and Regrowth(All of this spells are not long ranged spells), and I,ve seen My brother's Lvl 8 Battlemage(Earth/Warfare) He only use Earth Enchantment, Core Dweller, Ring of Flame, Weapon training(not long ranged spells attack too) although I don't really know what would the long ranged spells in high levels be, the spells that I and My brother used is more than enough to clobberin group of enemies. My suggest is don't depend too much on long ranged spells attack although You want to be sorcerers especially in low levels.

I have a lvl 65 elementalist , and have gone threw manytimes over and over again to find attacks other than using thee element/ spirit build. I will that Lightning withh all of its synergies and ice shard with all of its synergies are veryusefull , but geer dependant. You want things that will negate your recharge time , ( obtaining no recharge at all is possable) and faster casting speeds. Also , always use as much intelligence as possable. Although it wont directly display your damage for thees spells , I asure you that they will be powerfull. Im not to fond of the long range earth spells , so i cant realy suggest anything for them. Use heat sheald , earthenchanment an so-on. I use Ice shard the most becouse its quick , spreads , and at high lvls with GOOD int. its pretty leathal. Lightning is also a great croud killer at high lvls.

I have a 50 elementalist atm. I use ice shards full tree, lighting bolt and chain (with not many points atm) volcanic orb only with conflagration thunderball with concussive blast and eruption. It works really nice and if u are a bit smart u can stun lock your enemies and before they arrive they are dead. I also use stone form combined with eruption is devastating. The biggest problem u'll have with elementalist is that u don't overkill as spirit builds so u have to have more survival habilities. In legendary 3 arrows and u are dead. An option is using core dweller (one of the best pets imo) but developing it eats a lot of points u are loosing in dmg. Anyway if it helps my build atm looks like that:

Storm (lvl32):
Ice shard ---------> Full Tree
Thunderball -------> 1 (just need it for concusive blast and the stun)
Concussive blast --> 8
Lighting Bolt ------> 1
Chain lighting -----> 12
Storm wisp -------> 1
Eye of Storm -----> 8
Squall ------------> 11

Earth (lvl32):
Volcanic Orb ----> 1
Fragmentation --> 12
Eruption --------> 12
Stone Form -----> 1

Believe me, stun locking with this build is viable. start with volcanic orb, chain lighting, ice shards and when they start coming thunderball, ice shards again when they come again volcanic orb once again (that spell has an insane recharge). When things don't go well or mobs have tones of life u just have too low their life the eruption then stone form. That last works nice. The biggest problem i found in the elementalist are that archers in legendary desintegrate u and that u die too fast with the special mobs. Using core dweller is a good option but with ice shards u get the aggro too quick. Another build i tried is rellying on the core dweller as a tank and using powerfull spells with some cooldown to beat mobs. Anyway the class is fun for sure. And the core dweller build will sure work better with nature ^^

PD: Sorry for my english and does anyone know if heart of frost affects ice shards?

It does and the lightning skill after heart of frost also bosts your lightning spels damage, earth enchantement powers up your fire skills too. Well I think

I've been trying storm nimbus to boost my frost dmg. And after killing Tifon about 10 or 15 times with and without it and looking carefully how fast tifon's life bar was going down and without any other buffs and i'm almost sure that it buffs ice shard dmg. I suppose then that earth enchantment does the same with fire ^^

Conjurer with fireballs

my conjurer`s build : TitanCalc v0.4 - Conjurer - by stonedonkey
srry i am not on my main gaming pc, so i dunno points exactly, could be lil incompletly, but build works fine by this way:
1. summoning my pets
- tanking Fire Elemental for burning and stopping/slowing 1st wave of enemies (later i will stay only with lich, maybe)
- Lich for support dmg and Death nova - his spectral bolt is killing ALL mobs after 1hit from my normal attack
2. Earth enchantment - more dmg for all of us
3. Normal attack - for lonely enemies and cuz my uber wand...
4. Volcanic orb for mass elimination - it was killing all common mobs/frost liches etc. on every lvl in Greece for 1 Orb, +/- still same in Egypt
ad4 - warcamps in Greece were really funny - just run in to center and fireworks begin - all dead after 1st Orb:mischief:

build is based on Orb - so i wanna pump it to max soon - V. Orb and Fragmentation + Lich from Spirit are my base
later i wanna use supportive Deadchill aura/Ravages of time and Earth enchantment/Brimstone for their debuffs
now i stopped my Earth mastery on lvl 24, cuz i wanna take my Spirit mastery to lvl 24 too - for stronger Lich, later i will continue in both, to get Volavity and uber Lich - maybe i will really say hello to my Core dweller, to do it faster

Equip - no eq from another chars (bad patches, not multiplayer yet so its easy for all, to get same things)
so i am using only rare(green) and epic(blue) things - most of them got abilities like: +fire (%) dmg, +int(%), some + total speed etc. - its not so important, use all things with 4-6abilities for (fire) wizzs and its easy
+ wand is like - 25fire dmg, 5-9fire dmg, +20%fire dmg, some life leach and energy recovery +lil more... and i putted in my Egyptian wand some Essence of Prometheus' Flame (more fire dmg ) and to my recently 1 from Greece some Charm of Bat fang (life/energy leach)
p.s. alltimes buy better wand or beg your luck fore some epic/set one

another uber Conjurer/Elementalist:
i was reading official forum and there was interesting wizz too - playing multiplayer with friends like 1 months (tried 3times same mastered wizz) - he traded stuff with friends to collect some sets etc., finaly he got like -90% recharge on lvl around 58 -> so Ternions are loosers against his perma Eruption and Vulcanic orb boosted with Earth ench./Storm nimbus and Volavity:laugh:
but its hard to get such recharge - i got only -10% recharge shield and its useless with my 2hnd wand

think about my build, cuz its easy build too, later i will try ternion too, cuz i got Necromancer`s set wand and on my Thane i got Necroset helm and yeah i got some epic armor +2 to Dark covenant before i came to Delphi, so it will be uber too, but still not exactly my style....
