where does one find the legendary rings, amulets and book, are they crafted by an npc or in a quest?

They are generally available in shops if you are around level 50 or higher, also monsters may drop them then.
It you haven't reached that level yet, try to buy as many Prismatic Baubles as you can, they normally appear in shops if you are around level 35.
Note that the more reagents will be added during gameplay, the lower the probability that a shop keeper still will have these baubles in his offer.

now what?
I probably have about 250% magic find. I now understand about the Legendary rings, etc, but I am having trouble finding the %-magic regeants, and I am almost done with Vet Mode.
Are you supposed to do more Vet runs, kind of like Diablo 2? However, everything short of act III will be easy exp, and will the items be that good?
How do you continue to play and gather items once you beat Vet mode?

Nice post Sirine, thanks for the effort. There's still something spooking in my head however: how much does the Magic Find % affect chance to actually find magical items. In games such as Diablo II it's dependant on the quality of the item (to balance things MF gives less boost to high quality items than low quality, i.e. yellow vs. blue), so does this also apply here? And if so, by what formula/table?
Thanks in advance.

Great post
Great post, Sirine. I've managed to gather everything up. Now I just need to make a person who can carry them all simultaneously.
As I am unsure what caused the change, be it the BW expansion, or the update, I will add some edits for those with Broken World. The item names are the same, but, at least in BW, the max magic find % is has changed. I'll use Sirine's format to keep it simple, with notable changes in colored bold print.
Legendary +120% magic find ring. x 4 = 480% magic find
Legendary +120% magic find book. x 1 = 120% magic find
Legendary +120% magic find amulet. x 1 = 120% magic find
Human Race +10% (unchanged = +730% magic find)
WEAPONS - 1H SWORDS x 2
* Gemcrust, Gladius (37)+20 Strength, +12% Magic Damage Resistance, +14% Power Recharge Rate, +35%Chance to Find Magic Items, +80% Gold Dropped
BOOTS - NATURE MAGE
* Feral Stalkers, Ancestral Boots (35): +16 Intelligence, +18% Mana Regeneration, +45% Armor, +3 to Nurturing Gift, Enveloping Embrace, and Feral Wrath, +35%Chance to Find Magic Items
HELMETS - NATURE MAGE
* Tyrant's Horns, Dragon Helm (64):12% Health Steal, 12% Mana Steal, +66% Armor, +30% Fire Resistance, +35%Chance to Find Magic Items
ARMOR - FIGHTER
* Forgotten Armor, Obsidian Armor (68): +200 Health, +20 Armor, +20% Magic Damage Resistance, +2 to Barricade, Toughness, and Reinforced Armor, +40%Chance to Find Magic Items
GLOVES - RANGER
* Thief's Finesse, Carved Gloves (17): +8 Dexterity, Adds 2 to 6 Weapon
Damage, +8 Armor, +25% Chance to Find Magic Items, +50% Gold Dropped
(note: I lost my gloves. I'll post changes regarding these as they become available)
Assuming the gloves and armor are unchanged, the mix becomes +205% Magic Find
Total Max Magic Find in BW =+935%
On a similar note, I've been using my main, a mostly pure Nature Mage, for the most part with all the magic finds, but now I'm in Veteran Mode, and I'm building the human female henchman (can't recall the name; thinking she was the princess) to be my magic find character. She starts as a pure fighter, but its pretty easy to get her up to Ranged 17 for the gloves, and 37 in Nature Magic isn't too hard either, for the Feral Stalker boots. However, if anyone else is using this method, I recommend using the Fighter helm, Elfhame (Melee Level 30), until your Nature Magic reaches level 64 for the Tyrant Horns. The Elfhame is only 30% Magic Find, compared to the 35% of Tyrant Horns, but it is a suitable replacement in the meantime. And if you'd rather not put the extra 29 levels in Nature Magic for a meager 5%, the Elfhame will suffice. Another replacement option for those with some range skill is a set of Tracker's Boots, requiring Ranged Level 39, which are also +35% Magic Find (Armor 31 with +50% Armor, +22% Ice and Fire Resistance, and +3 to Critical Shot, Dodge, and Survival)
Also, this is my first runthrough, and knowing what I know now, and also being a person who wants to find the best equipment I can right from the get go, my next runthrough will focus on getting a great magic find character faster. I'll either start my main as a human archer (as Thieve's Finess gloves will be the first item able to drop), then switch to Fist of Stone so I can get the rest of the items at about the same time, OR I'll be sure to take the princess as a henchman asap, to get her magic find levels up sooner than later.
Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciated this post, and wanted to add a couple of my own thoughts on magic find.
Thanks,
Gary

Nice Sirine! You beat me, lol. I have 4x120 legendary rings, 120 leg amulet, 50 obsid. armor, elfhame helm 30, dual gem gladius' for 70 bringing me to 765ish. I need to find some bracer armor to give me a boost, or get some ranged / nature magic like you have done; but, I get so many uniques and sets now that I haven't been pushing harder. Great post. Now we have to see if you can push it over 1000, haha. Keep going, if you get a higher MF post again. I want to see how high it can go.
In another vein, to get the reagents necessary for making 4 leg rings and an amulet, it takes 8x5, or 40, prismatic baubles. Let me tell you: this takes FOREVER. Once in a while, after constant reloading, you get a pocket of 3 or 4 baubles, but usually you only get one after like 5 reloads. SO it is very time consuming to do this. However, once the uniqes and sets start dropping like flies, you feel the gratification. I've noticed that the gemcrusted gladius' do drop alot, at least for me, because i have received 4 so far.

I have my magic find mule in the party as well. 4 rings, ammy, book, hel, swords, armor, etc etc.
My question is: Does it really help?
I mean, I know things drop more frequently for me now, but is there a limit on the % where it just doesn't matter if you go past it?
Think about it. 900%+ is a bit ridiculous (though GPG has done sillier things in DS2 for sure). Of course, I'd feel like an ass to find out that Magic Find past 100% was wasted
Sometimes I think all these awesome programmers that work for all these great game companies need to hire Joe CommonSense to help out now and then

I've used a character with around 100% MF, and I've used a mod that jacks up the MF to something like 99999% (I can't remember exactly how many 9's there were, but a lot), and there's a definite difference between the two. So if there is a cap, it's well above 100%.

Why have 985%?
Why would you need 985% chance, wouldn't 100+ do perfectly or have I just made a fool of myself?

100% MF doesn't mean a magic item will drop 100% of the time. It means that a magic item is twice as likely to drop, and so the higher the percentage, the better.

It is probably done the same way as in Diablo2, and the progression is not linear. In d2 the difference between 0 MF and 500 MF is 1,7(166%) times better chance of finding unique items. and the difference between 500MF and 1000MF is merely an additional 0,3(33%). So i guess 4rings, an amulet and a spellbook will more than suffice. And are easy to handle, in terms of both needed space and character requirements.
