bonus points for completing all quests, who gets them?

Ok, hopefully this question makes some sense. Let's say that my party consists of Deru, Taar, and Lothar. But the only secondary quests I have left are specific to other NPCs. I've heard that when you complete all the secondary quests, you get something like 9 bonus skill points.

So my question is, if I have to have some other NPC in my party to finish his/her quest, does he get these points instead of the main NPC that I took out (Deru, Taar, or Lothar)? Is there anyway to "transfer" these points so that my real NPCs get them?

Perhaps another way around it is, can you complete a secondary quest for a particular NPC without having that NPC in your group? If not, it seems like you are kind of screwed if all you have left are secondary quests, because it seems to follow that at least one of your main NPCs won't be in your party when you finish them all, and so won't get the bonus skill points.

Is that what would happen?

No.

It's been a while since I played, but I think it's the case that the skill points you receive from quests only apply to your main character, so it doesn't matter which companions you have with you when you earn them.

Maybe the bonus points for completing all the quests are different, but I know for sure that when you get bonus points in other ways (completing the Arena, defeating Arinth, etc.) all 4 characters get the bonus points.
