I can't seem to beat Barmanu - he keeps freezing me and then calling down the meteors. Any tips? It's really annoying to have to respawn soooo far away and I'm getting ready to quit.

Yay - i got him! For anyone else having problems run around him until he fires off both his freezing attack and his meteors - then hit him a few times and run off to the cave entrance where he can't attack you. Heal up if you need to and do it again and again. For extra insurance I drank a healing potion everytime I ran around him but I don't think you need to.

This type of tactics is known as Kiting.
Hit hard and fast, then run away to stay out of range from the enemies' fire.
I kite most Bosses and Monster Heroes in TQ. Some have instant kill skills and others have powerful stun skills so staying away from their special attacks is mandatory for survival.

one more thing...

I was a dork and didn't go into the nearby cave where there was a rebirth fountain so I had been respawning a long way away...so go into the cave by the storyteller to find a rebirth fountain...

I can't really remember any Barmanu but he's the yetti in the caves in Act III right?

If he is, I don't recall him calling any meteors but his frost damage is a big whooper for any melee characters. I think he has low or negative fire resistance though...

To complete the quest, you’ll need to pass through the Neanderthal tribal caves (#1c) and defeat Barmanu, the Neanderthal High Warlord. Barmanu has a breath attack, and he can call down meteors from the sky, but mostly he’s just a hard-hitting melee boss, and you might need to dance around him a bit to give your healing potions a chance to kick in.

That might help you in the future, the walkthrough will have locations of rebirth shrines and some strategies for boss's.

Out of curiosity, how can you not remember a certain creature yet are able to note it's race and what act it's in?
