Nobody has answered my question in my "Single player MP?" thread but thas ok- I found "Myros Mod" myself!

NOW! - can anyone tell me how to install it ??? :o
It says something about decompressing and recompiling "tank files", along with some easier to understand instructs.

Are there any computer literate brainiacs out there who can talk this noob thru the install of that mod?

I would be forever in your debt!

This is not a very active forum so I don't check here too often, but I do have a recommendation for you. Trying to untank and do stuff is very complicated. You may be interested in Legends of Utrae which is also the MP map in single player with additional quests, hireable npc's, a few new monsters and some other cool things. You can download it from Siege Network:

SiegeNetwork.com

If the download from there doesn't work, you can download it from Herena Forge: (free registration required)

Herena Forge v2

I have it and am enjoying it alot. :) Zonematch seems to be defunct, and yes, you could play the game just online but then you can't save quests, or anything like that and as it is a HUGE map that would make things more complicated.

Thanx A LOT! for the warning about the tank stuff! If it is THAT complicated then this noob is not going anywhere near it! :p

Also- TYVM for the link to that "LoU", izzat a mod incorporating the MP map?
I'll take a look at it in a little while! :)

Boy, I am SO glad you dropped in here to give me the 411 sweetheart! ;)
You are an

Blast it! You did'nt tell me that I need the "LoA" expansion in order to play "LoU"!!! :-(
So much for that idea then!!!

Hi there again. Yes LoU is the multiplayer map, made into single player just like the myrus one.

It is much much more user friendly however as you don't need to tank or do anything to it. It is a huge map, so expect about 45 hours of game play. I haven't even finished it yet! Another nice thing is some interesting NPCs to join your party. I won't spoil it for you but they are not run of the mill ones.

I am glad folks still play DS1, I love the game. :D

You need to have a LAN in order to play over one.

To just play online, do the following:

To play online without zonematch, you run the game, go to multiplayer and then click on internet. You would host the game, or if you were going to play with a friend they could join you by entering your IP address. If they hosted you would enter their IP address.

You can play by yourself of course, but changes to the world are not saved, nor quests so it is really hard to make some progress unless you are going to have a marathon playing session.

Oh, sorry. I forgot that LoU is only compatible with LoA. Where did you download the myros mod from and when? I think there may be an updated version at SiegeNetwork that does not require untanking the mod.

SiegeNetwork.com

Also, this may offer a solution about online play and saving quests:
Ikkyo's Multiplayer Quest Save is a modification for Dungeon Siege(TM) by Gas
Powered Games, Inc.(TN).

The one thing that annoyed me about the multiplayer version of the Ehb map
was that the current states of the quests were not saved between game
sessions. With this modification, that annoyance no longer exists. Also,
starting with Beta 2, the Utraean Peninsula map is supported as well
.
File is also available from SiegeNetwork.

*edit*
Additionally, there is a mod that I use that incorporates the MP quest saving feature as well as new items, and a adjustable camera (so you don't have to look down all the time in game). It is called Dungeon Siege Revived and you can find it at Herena Forge (free registration)

Herena Forge v2
DS: Revived: * SnowFox's playable goblin with support for all of Revived's features * Fixed singleplayer hireling bugs * Spellicon bar always shows the proper spells now * Spellicon bars for all eight characters in a party * Passive spell and potion ammo readout for all eight characters * Sanity checks for proper installation * Updated spellicon button graphics * Katar descriptions * Bow damage descriptions * New ranged skills ** Twin Strike ** Triple-shot ** Reaching Shot ** Greater Reaching Shot ** Penetrate * Prevent multiple ui_managers from spawning * HTML readme file ****NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR DS:LOA****
Ok, I am out of suggestions, but can try to answer your questions about these mods or other DS stuff. :)

*edit* I just saw this:
Blast it! You did'nt tell me that I need the "LoA" expansion in order to play "LoU"!!! :-(

Don't get discouraged or angry, I think there is a solution...

No discouragment, no worries. :) And the solution is this one:

Myros map, no tanking or untanking required.
Myros_Mod v1.1 Dungeon single player map

This mod is a complete conversion of the multi-player map into a single player map. It also adds 5 NPCs for hire in the starter town. 2 are free, 3 cost money.

Dungeon Siege - Myros mod - Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com

If you look at the readme with the download, it may seem a bit weird for installation but here is what you need to do.

Go to your Dungeon Siege folder, which is usually:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege

Map (dsmap) goes here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege\Maps

Resource (dsres file) goes here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Dungeon Siege\Resources

If you are going to play with mods, you should think about getting a mod manager. Too much stuff in your resource folder will not be good, and it can cause conflicts. A mod manager will help with that. If you go to Siege Network, there are some available there.

does the myros one work with loa?

No, Myros mod is for the original Dungeon Siege. The one I mentioned already Legends of Utrae is the one that works with LoA. . It is a large download though, but very much worth it. :)
