ok, I'm on epic, lvl 35, and started farming Arachne the spider queen, she is the boss at http://www.gamebanshee.com/titanquest/w ... rossos.php (#5).
she's probably not the best boss to farm in the game, since she only has on Majestic chest... but I decided to try farming her, she was very close to a fountain and was extremely easy to kill (5 sec at best).
having not doing so before at all. thought I'll give it a try.

first thing I discovered was the first time I killed her was the majestic chest position (near the tree) which then change for the rest of the times. (moved to the side of the stairs)
about items: the first time I got a green item, then it went downhill (yellow only) and it seemed the more times I kept killing her the less stuff I get. like there was some anti-farming mechanism. but after a good hour of farming I found a few blue items (epic): mostly leg armor, one sword, one storm mage armor (and I'm Earth and Spirit!!!) two rings: one was crappy and the other one was EXTREMELY good:

Phantom Bane:

42% Life Leech Resistance
47% Energy Leech Resistance
63-93 Energy Leech Over 3 Seconds
+22% Energy Leech
+8% Energy Absorption From Attacks
+70% Damage to Demons
+70% Damage to Undead

so to sum it up. other then a fairly good ring and about +14mil in cash this was a completely waste of time... then again; it was sort of addicting in a fun sick way

any thought or recommendations?

Sorry for the title, but I wanted your attention and to have a little fun.

First off, great idea on the short run. It makes whatever you find that much more valuable when you don't have to 'spend' much to get it.

And I wholeheartedly agree with you that farming can return nothing but skill points and change more often than not. Though I have found some things that are useful, I cannot count the number of times my Typhon runs have netted me 4 yellow items and a couple of bags of gold. The only reason I do it is because my bow-brigand can make the run in under 5 minutes.

If you are looking for specific items then I suggest you search the forum for some help. Others have identified where they think certain things will fall.

For myself, besides Typhon I used to make Ramses runs. But I don't believe that I ever got anything from that character except for skill points and Spectral charms. Both of which were my intention. I found more 'colorful' items outside of the tomb than inside. Also, the boss in the Chang'an temple has been a recent favorite. When I kill it immediately (which has been the case a couple of times) then I can put on my 'experience gear' to clean up the room and hit the two majestic chests. But again, it seems that after the first time (which was a long time ago) the quality of items I get has dropped.
