Mystery Quest-Fail once, -all done? (*spoiler*)

I was very happy when I read about "The Mystery Quest". Why? Because I kept everything including the Ritual Blade. After making my way through the killer Prarie-dogs,Fighting the alternate universe characters, My characters were all rendered unconscious-(So they died). I respawned, and for the first time, I paid 25% to have my items returned. I then returned to the second area, where no one remained. The next door would not open for me, as I believe that I needed something from the enimies there...Is this true-?! I blew it?!
