i am at the part where there are lots of isles (away from my machine so can't remember exact name) and you have to collect 4 crystals and place each one in 1 of 4 beams (refractors?) which are then rotated to a central pyramid where a 5th larger crystal is then placed.

i have all five crystals in my quest items but it will not let me place the 4th small crystal in the beam??
it just keeps saying that there is no crystal in the beam ??
any ideas appreciated...is this a known bug? couldn't seem to find a post relating to it?

This is a known game stopping bug in earlier DS2 versions. Thus try to update to v2.2:
