All of a sudden... Lag/choppy play in single player

All right, just recently bought a new computer, prefectly able to run TQ: IT at its highest abilitis, never any running issues other than every once in a while the game randomly quits and returns me to the desktop. That I can handle, just builds up a little more experience as I work to the next rebirth fountain.
Now for some reason though I work my way through Hades, activate the warp thing for the Tower of Judgement and as soon as I walk to where the floor is floating with the green lightning in Domain 5, it lags... and doesn't stop. It will freeze for a second, then speed up as if I were playing at 3x the speed then freezes again. I managed to do all five domains like that hoping to get past it and into normal terrain and see if it stops. Unfortunately Cerebus is kicking my ass because I have no time to react or move with any purpose around him or out of his way to attack him. I dumbed down all the graphic qualities and the resolution but had no different results.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I could do or change? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Here are my computer specs if it is of any help:
Dell XPS 410
Intel Dual Core 6600 @ 2.4 GHz
4 GB RAM
GeForce 8800 GTX - 768 mb
32 bit Vista
320 GB Hard disk
Yah, should be good, again thanks for any help.
