Debate Time: High armor or Cool look??

I have been having a silent debate with myself over this issue. It took me a while to give up the Lorethal's grace set because I loved the look. Then I switched to Maegril plate chest with the Vistira's Vestment set. I think that this looks pretty sick. The only problem is that my main's armor is at 450 with that setup. When I switched to Duke's greaves, Dragon Helm, Gravewatcher Plate and a rare shield that I just purchased, my armor jumps up to 585. Now his armor is hard core, keep in mind level 60 with BW expansion-so armor is way lower than in DSII no BW, but he looks like a piecemailed vagabond, lol. I try to switch him back to his cool looking armor, but I can't live with the fact that his armor is over 100 under what it should be.
I don't know, this isn't a serious game mechanics post or anything. I'm just curious what you all do, and what you all find more important / gratifying about character customization.

Umm, it depends on whether you want to play the game or just design the character. If you don't want anything to do with the character other than make it look cool, go for cool looks. Otherwise, go for the armor, as looks are never important in playing a video game.

If it were a MMORPG, looks might have some perks, but seeing as you are the only seeing your characters...
It would be nice to see some screenshots of different outfits, maybe with a short description of what exactly the character is wearing. Might be something to think about to add some longevity to a game notorious for being somewhat monotonous and minimally challenging. Also, going with looks over perks, it might actually make the game more challenging and fun, depending on how you look at it.
So if you're looking to annhialate enemies and have a god-like party (ie. easier gameplay), go with the numbers. But if you want asthetically pleasing, with a bit of strategy required (ie. increased difficulty), go with looks.
Just my thoughts on the subject,
Gary

You could just change into your "cool look" clothes when and if you play online..

End game gear is what you should worry about, not gear that will be replaced soon. I like the way I look, badass evil without sacrificing armor.

my video card sucks so most of the characters (mine and NPCs) are just a floating head with arms and legs xD because of that looks aren't important for me

Take your best gear, then change to you "cool" stuff for just having fun.
