Stacking Question

Hey guys, im new to the forums here and have a quick question. My main guy is a corsair and i do a fair amount of bleeding damage, right now i have a griefmaker which helps me out doing bleeding damage with a 15% to increase bleeding damage with an improved duration. I have a couple of other skills which add a percentage chance to do bleeding damage. I am just wondering that if i do like 300 bleeding damage over 3 seconds. if i hit a guy with bleeding damage within the 3 seconds, what stacks? does the damage reset back up to 300 bleeding damage over the next 3 seconds? or if i hit him 2 seconds into it, it would finish the 100 bleeding damage from the previous hit, and start up a new bleeding damage? Also, i am wondering if there is a max attack speed, thanks =)

It all stacks, seconds and damage both. When you hit a guy, 300 bleeding damage per 3 seconds. If you hit him again exactly one second later, that'd be 500 bleeding damage in 5 seconds (As one second later, 100 of that damage already happened).

I've tested poison damage and it does NOT stack. You can get 18 sec duration on envenom weapon which is the test (with an item and skills)...

Now I hit once and the poison bar kills them in maybe 8 seconds...

Second test...

Now I hit repeatedly with a pretty fast attack speed. So 5 rapid hits.

Now they die sooner (because I hit 5 times and did physical/pierce damage) but the health bar is not moving 5x faster from the poison.

Note: this test is reliant on my ability to tell the difference between 1x and 5x

Edit: I hypothesize that bleed appears to stack but its really the affect of getting hit (physical, pierce) multiple times?

Both are incorrect, poison and bleeding. It isn't going to change the speed in which someone bleeds to death or is taking damage from poison. It increases the duration.

Lets say an enemy has 10,000 hit points, and you do 500 bleeding damage over 5 seconds to it. No big whoop, that's still 9500 to go. If you repeatedly keep hitting it, even at the max attack speed of 222% (or 2.2 hits per second) it's only going to add the duration and damage, not the speed in which they die. If they enemy just stood there and you're regular weapon did zero damage, you could hit it 20 times, leave, and a minute and a half later it'd be dead without having to attack it further.

So yes, it stacks, but with addition, not multiplication, HUGE difference there.

Ahh I agree with you then Siberys!

I thought you meant the rate of damage was additive. So you keep hitting them both to increase damage from pierce/physical and to continuously reset the duration. Also I think it resets duration rather than add. And I think it overwrites current poison damage with the highest source of poison. So 20 hits in 10 seconds will have the poison lasting 10 seconds (since its continuously being hit) + whatever the duration of the poison damage on the last hit.

Slightly more complex actually. I think each hit with poison stores the rate of damage and the duration. So each hit is stored. As time moves the highest rate from the poison source of highest damage is the active damage. Only the highest source and no other source is additive. When the highest source expires the second highest source governs what the damage is. When no poison source is there the poison damage stops.
