Can't update

Installed version is 2.0. I can't update to 2.2 for some reason. I run the 2.2 patch and NOTHING happens. No error messages or anything else. Double-click the patch (gpgupdate.exe), a couple seconds of hourglass, and ... nothing. Which prevents me from using any useful mods, including the "broken world" addition.

To be honest, it's probably my system. I seem to have once again wandered unwittingly into a bastardized area. : / WinXP Pro on an Athlon X2 chip(s dual core) (64 bit). It seems the Alienware people installed a 64bit hack, or some such. I'm hit-and-miss w/ drivers as to whether I can install the 32bit or 64bit version. And, honestly, it's more miss than hit, especially for my vid card. : (

So, any ideas?

Well dang

Nothin', huh? Unfortunate. : /

This should be unrelated, but it's now installed on a SATA drive, whereas previously I'd used an IDE drive. That should all be transparent to programs, though.

This sounds like more of an issue with your system rather than Dungeon Siege II. So you might try posting in the technical support forum.

Except that...

DS2 is the only game I've ever had update/patch issues with on this system. Edit: I rummage through my old games regularly and reinstall them just to re-play. They've all updated w/ no problems. Not a HUGE number of games (4-5), but most over 5 years old. Ah, Dungeon Keeper 2! /nostalgia

Technically, I just have to install 32bit drivers/programs rather than 64bit. Everything works fine, it's mostly just irritating that my system is mis-identified. I only included that information in the hopes that it would trigger some hidden memory in someone who read it. : / Perhaps I presented that a bit too biasedly (new word!) as the cause.

Thanks for the input, but I still think it's the DS2 updater that isn't liking my system or some part of it. I'm open to the tech forums, though, if everybody is really drawing a blank. : /

...and, apparently, every single viewer has no idea how to help. Go me and my Alien system.
I SHOULD be able to update, but I can't, and nobody knows why. Here dies this thread. RIP.
