After beating the entire BG saga,

leasant sigh: I am currently planning to start from the way beginning. Does anyone have any good character ideas? (character classes, character combinations, race, etc.)

dwarf ftr / cleric
plenty of wis tomes
neat warhammers in all games
very good tank, good saves, good thaco.
low level cleric spells very powerful, entangle, hold person, silence 15', and the maga-useful animate dead, + holy might.

Being in the same situation as your my good Sir. Im thinking about taking a mage trough, they seem very crappy until the end of the bg1 and become butt kickers in ToB. But a bard could hold interrest as well.

I am also began again in BG1. I am playing a thief that I'll take all the way through to the end. I sort of became interested in the thief after reading about the special abilities in ToB but not having a high level thief in my party. I also realized that I have greatly under-used the thief throughout the whole series previously. I never backstabbed, only detected and disarmed traps. So I thought I'd give it a try. And now I am currently having a blast with scouting ahead and sneaking in all the backstabs I can!

I'm with you.....but a fighter with impaler and then the good spear in ToB is very powerful IMO.....it's strange there are no good spears in BGI.
About the new character....why not taking a druid??? with all the tomes of wis. you'll have a lot of additional spells.
Or take a bard for a different gaming experience.

Go for the crazed dwarven fighter, with prof in axes. Keep him evil though.
Lots of fun

@Tamerlane: there's Kegain in BGI and Korgan in BGII....so why making a copy of them???? That's my opinion...

What I've done is created a multi-player game with my self (I'm an isolated geek

) - they are much more fun,
and I created one that was a halfing family that had to put up with the child of Bhaal being a deranged nutter.
Generally a party created by yourself is much better.
Just my opinion though
