Hey - where are my stars?

OK, so when I go into "my profile," I see that two people have rated me for a weighted average of 3.35. I have two questions:
1) why don't I get the stars near my name on my posts?
2) how can my average be 3.35 with two ratings? What two numbers added and divided by two make 3.35?

You might have turned the ratings off. Check your profile.

Whoops! Now my stars are showing up ... and my profile says my weighted average is 3.59 (a third person voted for me, it seems). Does anybody know how that weighted average comes about?

I'm not sure about this, but I think the voting is weighted so a person with more stars will have a heavier vote than a person with few stars. I believe that's how the strange average 2 votes = 3.35 turned up.

Yes I would like to know about the star thing as well. Seems a little odd to me. Maybe the most stars can get a gift.

There are no prizes, not for number of stars nor number of votes
On this board we have the ability, if we choose, to rate people according to whatever reasons we choose, 5 stars is the highest compliment you can pay, one star the lowest. Your weighted score (ie your number of stars) is an average of your star ratings per vote. You can turn this option off if you wish
