Something messed with my performance

All of the sudden everything on my PC is choppy and sickly slow, I mainly notice it in TQIT. All video options are off and I have a low resolution, so something is sad. Anyway, other than my savefile for my character, is there something I need to back up my TQVault things?

Thank you

Unfortunately, this is something you cannot fix as it has nothing to do with your configuration (believe me, I get the rubber banding effect more often than not and my system is WELL above -recommended- requirements).

It's poor programming. The Fanpatch fixes a lot of those, but they're still quite apparent.

I was about to install the fanpatch, then I read where it says not to install it if you've already have an established character.

thanks

I had no problems with the fanpatch with my established characters.

the only reason not to install fanpatch is if you play multiplayer with players who don't have it.

Fanpatch it is, no multiplayer for me at the moment. However, I still need to get rid of whatever is slowing everything down, it's not just TQIT, but also Guild Wars and other applications, I just notice it more in TQIT, because I play it more. That being said, other than my character savefile, could someone please tell me what I need to backup in TQVault and if anything else regarding TQIT needs backed up?

Thanks for everything,

I wonder if defrag or running something to delete unused programs would help? I ran ccleaner I while ago...

Only the character saves, and probably the TQVault files, but I don't know where they're located.
Try Ctrl+Alt+Del and close some unnecessary programs. That might help.

Wouldn't do anything. Believe me I've tried.

Am I not explaining clearly or somerthing? Why can't I just know?

Thanks

We aren't psychics. :) Each PC is individual and each user as well. Chances are very high that your PC is entirely different from Claudius', Syberis', or mine. We probably all have different software as well. If you give the capabilities of your PC (CPU, RAM, Video Card, OS,...), maybe we can give some more info.

Basically, defragging has hardly any effect to new HDs. But if you have HD which is about 4 years old, then it would be different matter.

@StuCazz
Have you installed any new programms lately which are running at background? Usually these tend to slow games. Either uninstalling those programms or doing what GawainBS suggested would solve the problems if that's the case.

Also, have you tried to run virus scan? Sudden slowing of the computer usually is causeb by viruses.

GawainBS, I said nothing about anyone knowing anything about my PC. I'm quite sure I know their all different. My specs are core 2 duo, 2 gb ram, geforce 7300LE (which exceeds the recommended) and I'm using XP, again, that is not the point. I understand nothing can be done about TQIT choppiness, but I remember stating that is not the only program experiencing that. Nothing, including TQIT had that trouble before my original post. With that said, I'm only asking what I need to backup for my items put in TQVault and anything else regarding TQIT.

Kipi
, I haven't installed anything new, infact, I went into MSCONFIG to make sure certain apps didn't startup and I disable my AV everytime. I did run a scan disk, defrag, AV scan.

Thanks :)

StuCazz, I misunderstood.
The best bet is to backup the entire TQ Vault folder.

Hmmm... strange. The only other problem would hardware malfunctions, which I doubt. Something is eating your computer's resources, that's sure. And the only things that can do such thing is apps you have installed or viruses. So, don't take it wrong, but are you absolutely sure you haven't installed anything just before you noticed slowing down? Game? application? Updated something?

Also, what AV are you using?

Oh, and you have AV disabled while still connected to internet?

A little while back, I has some resource issues with Nero applications. Try shutting those down?

Kipi,

I was thinking about what you said, but I did try to install Defiler.NET, but that was several days before I posted this issue. Since I had no luck in get it to work, I deleted the exe file, again that was prior to any problems. I'm using NOD32 in conjunction with Trend Micro Housecall online AV. I only disable the AV when I play TQIT.

Thank you,

Kipi,

I did run 3 AV scans and the NOD32 online scanner found a suspicious file, which I don't have right because I submitted it to NOD32, but the good thing is I didn't have to reformat like I originally thought.

I then tried to install the fanpatch, and it said it couldn't find any software, huh?

Siberys ,
I understand you say the game just runs that way. All I know is, before I started Hades, it played fine. Obviously I progressed, which made my SaveData file bigger. Is there anyway to compact that, if in fact that's the problem? I'd hate to not play anymore, I feel like I'm using 62 MB RAM.

Thanks again, :)

Mostly it's hades. Hades is REALLY bad about the programming.

I know it's hard to hear, but believe me hundreds of others have tried to fix this (hence the fanpatch by a group of people), and even that still has the issues.

Titan quest actually invented a new type of Lag, Rubberbanding, where it slows down and then speeds up really fast for just a moment.

If you don't like this whatever you do don't install xmax or uber mod...even more lag...
