i have tried to do a quest that involves you talking to an old man in the exile coloney but whenever i try talking to him he just keeps telling me to help him but i have already killed the plagued dryads that attack him and he still tells me to help him, i need an answer to continue the story or i wont be able to play the game!

It's a common glitch, and unfortunately the only way I know to fix it is to have saved beforehand, and restore that save.

IIRC, this bug was fixed in a patch, so you should patch your game.
