She may not have a great Con, but her strength gives her better bonuses than anyone besides Minsc, and her dex gives her an AC adjustment and a missile adjustment. So she misses out on a couple of hit points per level - you can make up for it with the right potions when needed. I think she's probably the best fighter in the game, although Minsc and Kagain are close.

See?

So do I. :D

Kagain is the far best in my oppinion, regeneration is especially usefull in BG1.

Well, she has a great strength, just let her use the Spider sword and she wont fail you. If she get any problem just let Kagain assist and everything is alright.

I used her when I last ran through BG1 with an evil party and I thought she was pretty crap. A fighter with con of 9 is laughable. She may be strong but I found Kagain to be much more effective simply because he didnt have to flee from battle whenever he got hit a few times. I like Shar-teels man hating personality though. Most amusing.

But Kagains Str is laughable too... :D

Both can be remedied with potions - there are plenty of cons potions around and Shar-Teel can still get up to 10 HP per roll. What are you, cheaters who re-roll anything less than 15? :p And with that Dex, she doesn't take the hits. Pity her initial proficiencies get wasted in short swords. :(

Better to avoid damage, than to be able to take it. Ask your NPC thief and/or mage. Combat skill and high strength are key, all else is gravy for a fighter. The NPCs can't get bonuses for every stat, sorry. Too bad there isn't a constitution equivalent to gauntlets of dexterity or ogre power. Personality wise Shar beats Kagain hands down, and if Khalid stutters one more time...!

IMO, Shar-Teel is the best fighter in BG1. High Strength and good Dexterity. Her AC bonus will make sure she doesn't get hit to often. Kagain is very different from Shar-Teel: lower Str, bad Dex but loads of HPs and natural generation. He comes a close second. The natural generation may be slow but your NPCs don't have as many HPs in BG1 as they do in BG2 so it's actually quite sufficient, at least in the beginning of the game. And some ennemies later on will hit your fighters no matter how low is the AC, and in that situation many HPs will save your day. Choose between the Gauntlets of Dex and the Gauntlets of Ogre Power.

Kagain has 50 percent more HP and regeneration. Equip him with bracers of dexterity and you cant find a better tank. Sure, he dont have the best strength, but 16 is fair, and your other teammembers can do the damage while he takes the hits. If there were no bracers of dexterity i might have taken sharteel for number one, but...

She isnt too great with the low con, and regeneration rules. However, she can use, in my oppoinion, the best weapon in the game, the spiders bane. So best to include them both, any party i play needs at least 2 fighters, preferable 3.

hmmm. Sharteel with spider bane and boots of speed will crush most enemies quickly and succinctly. :) the extra attack those boots give really make her quite a whirlwind of death, needless to say: my favorite npc. so dissapointed was i that she was not present in BGII, SOA, that i created her again and placed her on the web for download.

if you have Shadows of amn and want her:
