- bear attacks
- wolf attacks
- hypothermia
- mosquitos

As for dealing with wild animals, I am pretty capable with a spatula. Any other tips?

We're electing the new goverment today. Who knows, they might be better or worse. I believe they'll do about as well as the previous one, though.

I've stayed away from downtown on the 17th for the last 15 years, and I'm perfectly happy. I usually go fishing in the woods, that's national spirit enough for me. So you're gonna live in Oslo? File for bankrupcy now!

I'll live in Oslo, but I intend to do a lot of outdoorsy stuff too. My parents took me to Norway for many summer vacations during my childhood. I love the Norwegian nature.

Speaking of which: Yesterday we managed to re-ellect the most incompetent government we've had since the 70s, so you might as well stay in Holland. Our taxes are gonna go through the roof, and we'll be forced to go to bed at 9pm in two years.

My condolensces - the Swedish equivalent (who are now in opposition) say they view the Norweigian election as an "inspiring act to follow", If that happens next year, I think I'll take up on the job offer I got from Kampala University to teach.

Tricky, the scenery in Norway is outstanding, really, really marvellous. However, so are living costs. And it's not exactly continental...so, good luck!

I don't think so: your government is not so far to the left to significantly undermine the Norwegian economy. Anyway, the good news - your Conservative party is steadily gaining popularity. Way to go.

It simply means we in Scandinavia are backwater, behind and rural compared to continental Europe. Norway more so than Sweden and Denmark.

I think this might give a slightly erranous impression. The organisation of the society isn't that backwater and behind here i think, it's the culture that is very backwater in terms of appreciating the intellectual qualities of continental Europe or indeed any intellectual persuits at all.

I think I sorta understand. To be honest, Holland can be very rural and out-back too. My girlfriend and I haved lived similar lives in similar areas, so we feel the same about these things. We're one of those freaky clone couples.

As for society, I've heard a few things. All in all I have pointed out an equal amount of weird things about Norway than she did about Holland. I don't believe Dutch people in general are that cultured or appreciative of all the good things Europe has to offer. We may have a few international, overcrowded cities, but the villages, farms and farmland still make up the bigger amount of the country. All in all I don't think Holland and Norway are all that different.

Or the US. Everyone focuses on one or two big cities. Unless they look at the news, in which case they concentrate upon the bizarre fringe types that hang out (mostly) in rural areas and nightly attend such churches as Our Lord of the Perpetual Scientist in the Holy Mind of Christ's Blessing to the Universe.

Come to think of it, the Netherlands has one of the largest religious tv networks in Europe, perhaps #1. And as I recall, they got help getting it off the ground from some rich evangelist in the US. Though it's only returning the favor, since the fervent triumphalism of Dutch Baptists in the 17th century greatly influenced English Puritans, who in turn at least partially responsible for much of the religious intolerance and language now floating around, here.
